HDD fail, so I always back mine up on DVD

DVDs don't work forever...

I just lost a HDD
unfortunately it was my most recent one, the one I actually used...
all my old stuff and OLD backups survived...

but the important stuff is mirrored on my laptop

Why use DVD when you can have it on redundant NAS systems at remote locations in 10MT proof data bunkers? Or store it on a different planet altogether? Or a different universe, just in case Gordon Freeman buggers something up at the LHC?
