Hi I was thinking, and have been thinking about this for a while so it's not something spontaneous spouting out from me.
How about creating a new category in the Nexuiz forums for contests? I.e. 'Nexuiz - Contests'.
In there people can post all kinds of contests related to Nexuiz. Such as mapping, modeling, gameplay-wise etc. It can be speed contests (like an hour or two) and even longer, like a week or month. This way people can easily see if there are contests and those who want to do contests now have a chance.
Now granted there might not be too many people who are regularly active. But I wanted to hear peoples opinions about this.

Sorry, I've missed this thread somehow.

If a contests forum is actively used, I can't see much bad coming out of it other than the potential for shit-talk. By holding contests--both ingame and in the interest of development--it seems quite likely that development will increase and more unique ideas will be put forth. In terms of the actual community, the potential for a tightening by friendly competition depends upon the community's ability to take such matters lightly.

I have faith in the community. Most of the people are nice and I believe they will win and lose with a happy feeling. Of course, that's just what I think.

Come to think of it, there have been quite a few contests on these forums over the years. I think this is a good idea.
