  • Well, first off. I'm not the one deciding about site admins. I'm not an admin myself nor am I a member of the development team.
However, I can't help but to think of www.nexuiz.com when I hear you explain you want to take care of the site. But to clarify it, which site are you talking about, is it the actual www.nexuiz.com or www.alientrap.org?

I'm just trying to gather information for my own pleasure (and to clarify things for the others). But to be completely honest, who would give a complete stranger the admin rights to a website just like that? Maybe if you were known to some people and had a good reputation.

EDIT: Oh btw, maintaining one game is already a LOT of work. So doing multiple projects at the side of each other would never work out unless you had a lot of people. Unfortunately there aren't many people lining up to do work and release it under GPL. (If that's what you meant)

  • well im talking about developing and alientrap.org. is there anyway i can prove to you that i am willining to look after it and not be a complete stranger.

    to sum it up.

i will do anything to prove i just want to look after alientrap.org and that i am not a random stranger

i want to look after just alientrap.org

    be a developer

advertise nexuiz on my site when it is done

    generally help

    and design alientrap.org

    while getting to know people

    thanks again

  • Don't ask, just do. Welcome to open source where you submit your changes and build respect that way.

    Ways to not build respect:

    - Join the forums asking to be admin with little to no proof of who you are
    - Spam your site that "needs visitors"
    - Triple post
    - Make a bunch of posts within 30 seconds of each other --- which lack content or that have it, have copied content and aided in creating yet another useless post.

Your only credentials are 2 sketchy looking websites and hotmail emails. Your name is doomsday and the first thing you're asking is to be admin. I'm not sure what you want people to think.

It is practically impossible to sell any derivative of Nexuiz, simply because of the license of its content and code. Without writing all the code from scratch and remaking all the content from scratch, you won't be able to put it under any other license than the GPL. However, selling a game that's under the GPL won't really work as anyone who bought the game also got the right to copy it for anyone else. He can even buy it once for, say, $10, and then sell copies to others on HIS website for $5 each - and all this would be perfectly legal.

What previous experience do you have with selling or making games?
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I am referring to previous experience, not ambitious projects you have planned or even started. I can find nothing of that sort on http://www.gtpro.co.uk/news.php or on http://www.i-gamez.co.uk - both sites do not have any content yet.

How are you going to do packet loss resistant but efficient and fast networking with Flash (which I assume you are using, from your website)? Do you already have a "prototype" in which you can, e.g., already walk around and see walls? A screenshot of that would be nice then.

Do you have the required legal background, or a legal department, to be able to safely sell games over the internet?

Are you familiar with SSH, with which our site's code is uploaded/edited?

How much experience do you have in the C programming language? What about OpenGL? Or do you really think you'd be able to rewrite the game, e.g., in ActionScript in a few months, and it would have somewhat good performance?

To prove you have a remote clue about managing a website, please get rid of all the spam posts on your http://www.gtpro.co.uk/news.php - because, as far as I can tell, the site is not really about Viagra, Cialis and free porn.

  • I can see that the clean, cohesive look of gtpro.co.uk showcases your skill as a website designer, on a purely aesthetic level at least.
