  • This was talked about before but rather then red blood for everyone could we have:
    Robot oil spilled for robots.
Human blood for humans (allready have it).
    Robot part gibs for robots.
More gib types (so when you gib someone you see their bloodied skull, spleen, arms, etc etc.
Bullets not gibbing people (maybe a server setting what projectile/ammotype/weapons can gib).

  • I agree that the shotgun and machinegun shouldn't gib. It would make Nexuiz feel more "polished". Also, if you want red blood for humans, and motor oil for robots, how about green or blue blood for the aliens? You could even have fluorescent blood for the aliens like in Halo. (It can be done with a glow map, right?)

As for the gib types, I'd like to see some ribs and chicken-leg looking things. There's already a skull, and the eyeballs are really funny, especially when they bounce up and down on a jump pad!

  • The next version (due somewhen in the next 14 days) will have new gibs. The old ones had a insanely high poly-count.. And you will also be able to disable those gibs on a per-client base.
The ideas you people have are nice but if they get done then not in the next version. :) Till then our aliens have red blood and the robots are cyborgs with flesh underneath ;)

  • Release early Release often.
Please release a 1.6.1 and a 1.6.2 with new things etc, it's the open souce way :)... it also makes it so we don't have to wait 1/2 a year for new gibs and oil for robots etc :).

As i said in some other thread this idea is nice but Nexuiz releases should be as polished as possible to give a good feeling to its users. And most of the last changes have been rather large scale changes. But people are still invited to try the svn version (its even descripted in the Docs how to do so). But i admit it might be a good idea to produce inofficial test releases more often so people that do not like to use SVN and the like can still see what is happening to Nexuiz. There are some uptodate test-releases available for the current version in case people like to test but its incombatible with older versions. So public servers are a bad idea because joining people will be unable to play and get told to update, which they can't do officaly :)
So while i think the idea is good it should be done with people that really understand this point and make sure other users do not get problems that way.. (Again everything my opinion..)

No wonder the game stutters when someone is gibbed, especially for people who have older graphics cards. I'm glad they are more optimized now!
