Hello all. I am a long-time player, first-time poster. Let me start by saying how much I like Nexuiz. It is indeed a great game.

However, any online fps is going to suffer from the problem of the occasional rude player. Nexuiz seems to suffer very little from this problem, as it supports a better community than most shooters could boast. In fact, having played Nexuiz for about a year now, I've only encountered three rude players. That's pretty darn good.

Still, it's always annoying to have some punk-kid cussing at you throughout a match (the taunting escalating the more you frag him). The new ability to vote players off is a good addition to v1.5, but I don't allways want to do that.

I was wondering if it would be possible (in some future version) to add a feature to disable talking. This would prevent player comments from appearing and disable the "bell" sound that accompanies them.

What does everyone else think?

You are right most of the players act rather mature, although i meet someone yesterday that was cursing very much during playing. Said he was drunk but thats no excuse
I'm not sure its worth coding such a feature. It should be easy to ignore that beep and the text with pure will power and i also think the changes to make this work fine outweight the usefulness of such a feature.
And also i just meat someone that accused me of cheating. I guess if i had ignored him he would have left much eariler. And i think this is also a danger of this idea to silence people. Its bad that he finaly did but at least i told him a few things and if he still thinks i cheat well what shall i do? I invited him to the forum and the ladder as to show him there is no cheating. Well his nice name "[BOT]Assasin script v4.03" also made me think whats wrong with him

Well, did he call You a cheater. If it's like that I think I know who are You talking about, he is a US player but appears on Euro servers as well. I call him a pussy everytime he's posting (I have a key bind for that ) and soon he gets lost.

For me I always enjoy using the messagemode (You can even call me a spammer ) and I think it's a very useful feature. And I don't mind if some stupid try to annoy me that way. I always have the right answer

Maybe You should just set the value "con_notify" in the config.cfg to "0". I'm not sure if the beeps of the messages stay away as well, and You will miss all the other useful messages.

The best one is the guy who stated: "now i know you must be aimbotting".. I had just spammed him to death with RL even if I coulcd not see him. "why is that?" .. "because I'm on the top of the map where you cant see me."... yeah.. right.. look whos talking.

I thought we got over the cheating accusations about 6 months ago? I think most of them are just down to someone being better than another player can imagine. Some may also be down to people running gl_picmip 16 with everything at very high brightness and some crazy 'wrong' perspective, even fov 90 is mathematically too high for me but I still use it.

it is a bit funny.. The cheating accusations are very rare, but when they do come, they are often directed a people that are not _that:_ good.. Like me or the like.. I'd love to see one of the complainers fight the really good players..

Some time ago I played with two guys on Green´s 2on2 server. One of them was called "Blinky Blinky" or so.
He started to offend me and did not stop. I had drunken some beer before, so I did not care . I only told him, that he was boring me and ignored his senseless talking. But man, he had persistence! And the more often I fragged him, the worse became his words.
Most of the time he complained what a sh*t, sucking, fu**ing and idiotic name "Gut_Eater" is. Of course he is right, but I did not told him .
But hey what kind of name is "Blinky Blinky".
