  • I thought the wmv was fine. Not bad format at all. The way you guys put it it makes it seem like such bad format you might not be able to see.

  • I really enjoyed the new maps and new effects seen in the video. Although the changing music is a little distracting, I think it's appropriate because this video is supposed to represent gameplay instead of being a trailer that shows off graphics. When the Nexuiz logo appears at the beginning of the video, a cool sound effect should play, or the announcer should say "Welcome to Nexuiz". Also, the text at the end should stay there just a bit longer before fading away.

  • Yeah the video is really cool. The improvements upQuark mentioned are good but i suppose its almost a little late for such a change :).

Vermeulen: Would you announce some of the news sites that accept the video? Might be nice to read some of the stories and maybe users reponses (at least on news sites where this is possible)

Bl@nk: Well .wmv can be played on windows but i guess many other systems will have problems with those. Yes its possible to get a player that can use the windows dlls to display such a video but those dlls are not freely available.

And remember in five days everyone can take a look at the game itself!

  • Thank you for the nice video. Something of one of the new maps remainds me on Doom. Looks absolute great. And the best thing is at the end of the video. The new release date: 11.6 Yeeeeeaaaaah :p
    Only 5 days left.

    hm....

  • @Vermeulen: i agree with upQuark, the intro logo could use some sound ;)
And don't you have a better quality version of that intro? It looks really ugly with all those artifacts. Perhaps you should use the alientrap logo from SVN instead.
And please get rid of those "divx" watermarks (iirc there was an option in the divx control panel to disable them).

Bl@nk: Well .wmv can be played on windows but i guess many other systems will have problems with those. Yes its possible to get a player that can use the windows dlls to display such a video but those dlls are not freely available.

And the DLLs are useless on any other platform than x86, so MacOS/Linux/ppc (and many other platforms) users can't play WMVs.

  • Well, I'm absolutely despising .wmv because of its closed nature - but I guess it's okay to offer a .wmv version in this case as long as there are alternatives.

The .avi version comes with the DivX logo displayed in the lower right corner - is there a clean (high quality) master version somewhere we could e.g. use XviD or Ogg Theora with (the latter being the native video format on Linux)?

  • if some mac users get problems with wmv reading, they can download the flip4mac components (free wmv playback in quicktime, have to pay to get the encoding feature)

  • Well i think as this is the date mentioned in the video which will be send to some news sites it would be very very bad is the release date were to be changed. So i would think unless hell opens up its the 11th :)

  • Nice. I think that some sort of splash between each gameplay segment would help to break it up. Just flash the Nexuiz logo perhaps.

  • SOmeone snuk a link to the yourtupe vid to me the other day, and It was interesting, but really to low quality to see anything. However it surely peaked my curiosity, so thanks for this version :)

If you have the means of providing me with the raw (uncompressed) vid, I'll try and make the formats paople are saking for.

  • The next release is officially going to be 2.0 now, instead of 1.6, then?

If what's said in the video is right, I can understand why - a single player campaign sounds pretty big. I'm just sorta surprised, since until just now everyone was calling it 1.6 :p

  • It was the same thing last time.. it was 1.3 until release then suddenly 1.5 :) this started as 1.51 (a fix-release) quickly became 1.6 with new features, and as everyone realized that thing look much better, it became 2.0 :)

  • The video just made me pee my self a little bit :D
I'm going out tomorrow to buy the highest end, freaking aye computer so I can play this with everything on and then some. Love it...love the new explosions, love the electro effects, sound seems good......love it all. This rightfully can be called 2.0 from what i've seen. It's a huge improvement over 1.5.

Verm and every other dev aree invited over for steaks and beer. Fuck it, everyone is invited. I'll even throw some strippers in. BYOP though

We could call it 'Nexcon' and make it a yearly event?

Yes definitly.. each version so far run faster then older ones.
On some maps i get up to 50% more fps with the engine that will be in 2.0.

  • Hm...

    I own a 1 GHZ Pentium 3 and an ATI Radeon 32SD + 512 MB RAM.
50% would be nice - oO
Will there be some new Musictracks in N2.0?

Would it possible to create out from Nexuiz 2 a portable lite Version to use it on (small) USB Sticks?
Is it now possible to hold the weapon in the left hand?
(Bin zwar Rechtshändler wäre aber ein nettes Feature da man die Linkshändler nicht vergessen sollte, auch wenn sich viele umgestellt haben was die Waffenseite betrifft).

  • Well Nexuiz 2.0 will include MUCH more textures (no music though) but all the content has been optimized for size so its only a tiny bit larger then 1.5 which does fit quite nicely on my 1GB usb stick :) Yeah i guess it might be possible to make it even smaller but lowering the quality or just ripping out some stuff as you have seen with tinynex15.zip. If someone does this that fine.
There are no new tracks but new maps, gamemodes, features and other fun stuff :)
Well your hardware is limited so nexuiz can not do some magic trick.. You might want to see into getting a new graphic card. I got a nv6600gt for 150 euro and its very fine for Nexuiz.
The guns are still in the right hand..
