  • This release is outdated please download the latest Nexuiz release from:
    http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/index.p ... =downloads

This is the forum only release, as in, not for news sites or the main site. The final release will be tommorrow for news on tuesday. I am releasing it on the forums first so any horrible problems that are found can be fixed in time, and any people here with servers can update their servers. It also might take a bit for many of the sourceforge servers to get it.

I'd also like to hear if people have any problems with the campaign, the new levels, or the weapon changes. If you download this version now you might have to download the final released version on tuesday if there are any major changes, and we might also include Strahleman's blue sky map.

For a feature list full of nice buzzwords go here:
    http://www.alientrap.org/dude/newfeatures20.txt

And again, DO NOT SEND THIS TO NEWS SITES,

    Happy fragging

Still, if you have a reson to download this outdated release the link is here:
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nexu ... forumr.zip

  • Well just to make sure: The first link that was posted was a link to an older version that was uploaded by mistake. It also tells 1.6rc something as version. So please download this forumr.zip file which will be right current testing version. Know bugs with it (and already fixed for the final release) are HDR not looking as perfect as it should and you start LMS in the single player mode with only 1 live :)
And sorry to Bl@nk for removing the link to the old version he posted. Thanks for helping!

Further SF.net seems to need a few more minutes to update all its mirrors. Currently all of them reply "Invalid mirror selected" this should work soon though. Just keep trying :)

does it mean that the sourceforge file will/has been updated ?
-> do i need to download it again once it'll be possible ? (i already dowloaded it about 20 minutes after vermeulen's post)

There is a new sourceforge file as mentioned in the first post now. It has been edited.
If you downloaded nexuiz20.zip then yes you will have to get the new one.
However SF.net seems to be very very slow today.. i still can't find a working mirror.

Asraniel wrote:and i was already getting angry against sourceforge...

sourceforge is very very slow at the moment.. hope working mirrors come up soon though.

  • First impression, one word:
    AWESOME!!!

    One thing:
In map "loodprison" i noticed some models are very dark (black), if bright skins are not activated. I can light up that models by shooting, but very dark indeed.
Here are some pictures showing that:
    http://dxx-rebirth.de/files/div/

If it's normal behaviour I can live with it, but i' just wondering about.

  • When i heard about the new release (1.6), i thought about some bugfixes and so. But what is this? It is a brand new game! :P

    YEAH

Now i can play on my machine, having some details on and it runs with moderate fps. Absolute greate.

And textures, i can see textures without putting the LOD Bias to 2. :)

Absolute great job that you have done. I got no words at the moment to describe how i feel. It is like christmas and birthday on the same day :)

Now begins a hard time for morfar and kojak at the ladder :P

    8)

Thank you all very very much :p

  • Runs good, looks even better ;)
The gameplay seems a bit slower so i'm not sure whether thats better or not.
One small bug though. The weapon model sometimes disappers. It comes back when you switch to another weapon.
I haven't been able to figure out when it happens but i'm sure it's not random.
    Other then that, feels good.
Models don't blend with background, and I finaly love the electro. The first time in the history of nex!!!
    Great job guys

  • I just like to point out that these hard working folks deserve a donation or two if you can spare a few quid.

I would also like to make a suggestion. That we (the community) make a box and cd art and perhaps write a decent manual so that the developers could sell boxed version on a per request capacity and we, the community, could buy our warm and fuzzies in boxed form.

  • If anyone can find one, can someone post a mirror?

Because the one Vociferous posted is slow as shit.

  • Well I finalkly got to test it.. I've found nothing wrong so far, and thats very goos as errors tend to manifest as soon as i touch anything,

It looks really great. Awesome job.

but for the thing i dont like.. it had to come..
I seriously dont like the chenge of the air control. Its like a flightsim.

    edit:

oh.. and consider adding obi_man's loading-screen and menu screen. Its very good.

    He wont mind.

    I've tested it, it works.
but feel free to replace the butt-ugly font :)

  • Played it. Doesnt really feel any different.
But i found an annoying bug. I tried the campaign, and while playing i tried going into the options menu. My screen went black and i had to shutdown my mac. =[

  • Nexuiz 2 seems to be run faster on my system. nice :)

I dont know - did you removed the Nexuiz intromovie on startup? if no - i cant see it (happend to me in the Nexuiz 1.X versions earlyer then 1.5 an later then 1.0 or 1.1 i think)

And 2.0 need longer to load (the menu and the maps) compared with 1.5.

    Some things i miss:
    - lowpoly/lowquality playermodels
    - you know ;) (the weapon selectable on the right or left side)

  • 2.0 load shitloads faster for me than 1.5 did, for some reason.

  • I noticed a bug while using the Electro. If it runs out of ammo it does stop at 1 ammo. I can not fire the last shot with the left mouse button, but only with the right. Then ammo turns to 0 and the weapon changes.
    Can somebody reproduce this?

I dont think that is a bug, as the secondary fire only uses 1 ammo for each shot, but the primar yses 3 or 4. You therefor has enough ammo to shoot with secondary, but not enough for primary.

  • Right.. and for the same reason the rocketlauncher does not switch after you have shoot the last rocket. Because that way you can still detonate it with +attack2 (mouse2 by default). It should however switch when you have detonated that last rocket :)

  • impressive...
The optimization work is unbelievable... nexuiz 2.0 'perfectly' runs on a MacMini monoCore with 512 Mo RAM and an intel integrated graphic chip.
(even if it looks hard for him to manage together Nexuiz and the Network, so that Network playing is jerky... but Campaign mode is quite playable :)
