  • I have not played Nexuiz 2.0 alot yet, and i have not played games with this mutch aircontrol before. I must say my first impressions of this is almost all bad. it just feels totaly wrong, and yes you can do alot of tricks, run like the wind and put you own rocket up yer ass.. great. ;) Now its just to easy to get to some places, and to dodge in the air. that you accelerate while holding foreward in the air iritates me too.. i do think its good that this possibility is in the game, but i would rather see is as an option off by default.

    I have the feeling that i decellerate when holding forward in air..

  • Hmm well it makes hititng flying targets (with something slow moving) near impossible .... Hell Tribes2 has less air control ! (When not using your truster)
    I used to be realivily hitable, now I often meat peaple (aka noobds (no offendce) ) who have problems hitting me at all :)

  • Some of the movement cvars do some strange stuff. I found in Quake a while ago that you can go faster using negative acceleration than any other way. The controls are the wrong way round though!

  • new movements are pretty cool but i not like the reduced jump length, in nex1.5 i was able to jump side to side from the terrace in q1dm6 (dm_darkzone or so..) now i poorly fall :( :( :(

  • yea.. just watched.. but shit im not able to double jump like in your demo.. i hope i only need some practice..
    i think however that now some movements are too tricky.. before i used to jump when running backface (and shooting someone :P ).. now i feel myself a noob :(

  • There are no double jumps in my demos (double jump = jump up some ledge and jump again to gain extra hight). Those have been in older version but have been an engine but that why those have been so hard to do and it worked or did not depending on cl_movement and other stuff.
    Right now its just hitting the right spot to gain more speed because of an ramp jump. And those jumps on skyway are really hard that why they are seperate demos. Well the one to the rocketlauncher is easy..

  • Ahh now i know what you mean with double jump. Its just that there is already the term 'double jump' which means what i did descripe.
    What you mean is more or less bunnyhopping. And if you mean the jumps on darkzone over those two gaps i think i can help you. The first one by the mortar is just timing. Just jump (+forward and +jump) and while in the air release and repress +jump that should do the trick. You have to hit the right spot because the second jump has just the right width.
    Thats how you gain speed in Nexuiz 2.0. Just jumping in a stright line, just +forward pressed. That funny stuff like strafe jumping might even slow you down..

    The other jump over the rocketlauncher is very similar. Just jump (+forward and +jump) while in the air release and repress +jump, release +forward and press +straferight/left instead and turn your mouse into that direction.

    Oh and i noticed the jumps on skyway can be pretty easy if done right. The previous version was all three jumps as single demos as i could not do them all togehter without mistakes :). So here is a demo off all the three jumps together:

  • I think the new movement is not bad.
    At first i also had problems with the immense air-control, but as i have played some Painkiller DM as well i got familiar with it very fast.
    It's just a pity that strafe-jumping doesn't affect speed-gain :(
    And the double-jumps (esteel-style) don't work anymore....
    And ramp-jumps are a bit too easy now... (e.g. on soylent it's now really easy to do the ramp-jump from MH to crylink)

    It might have been a 'side-product' but now gaining speed is simple.. as was said a few times just jump in a stright line. Thats something everyone can repeat if he has seen it. Either from demos or specating. I think thats good for beginners. Strafejumping is fine if you know how to do it but it can also be hard to learn. So i'm fine with the current way.

    Yeah its a pity those are gone but i only know 2-3 spots were those did work anyway.

  • I didn't mind the movement after only a couple of games but now it's starting to bug me.
    The game feels slow, xtremly slow.
    The reason why I fell in love with nex was the speed.
    Now I'm not sure if the love can last, seeing how the speed part is gone.
    I know that with practice, speed can be regained but thats not the point. It's slow out of the box, only after u learn how to jump like a monkey and brake your fingers turning corners using aircontrol do u get faster.
    If the game has slowed down this much, change of weapons is a must in my book.
    But by doing that, we're getting a whole another game, one that is just another fps. Nothing special.
    While the speed is likely not gonna change, I feel the need to voice my opinion.
    The only fast thing in nex right now is dying. This is not the nex I started loving a long time ago, the one with the invisible bug, and cool gameplay ;)
    (half the people here don't even remember that one)

    Yeah, go to the lower level on silver city into any one corner.
    Start running and jumping (gain a bit of speed), shoot rocket and race it.

  • Now i finaly got around to download and watch those demos. Those are included in my demo pack they are just no longer possible with a single jump!
    You now have to jump twice. Each jump will be faster and farer then the previous and only the second jump is far enough to make it over tha gap. It does matter from what direction you are coming. I'll record a demo for both directions :)

  • ok.. is not as easy as before but i've managed to jump this way.. at least sometimes :( :(

    but the tricks of your demos i prefer are those simple but useful like various ramp jump and so on, really usable in battle :P

  • I prefer to not jump over the gap on darkzone but rather just stay on ground, since you have so much aircontrol that can you can turn and strafe around the gap and even gain speed by it

    what bugs me are the small lights that can stop you in the corridors

  • Another fine little trick (many of you probably already know this one from an earlier incarnation of this map) is getting at the MH in darkzone without using the teleport:

  • I redid my previous trickjump demos.. there were several demos for a few of the maps, those are now in a single demo. Some training did help :) Also i added some laser jumping to aggressor and added jumps for warfare. (I want to give credit to GreenMarine for the jump from armor to the nexgun, and to honor him i added an other version for this jump right before it :) try to do that one if you dare :P )
    Also i nolonger call the demos "tricks_*" but "jumps_*" as someone complained ingame that those things are no real tricks.. well what ever :)
