    Jetpack is on the "hook" key (default: E).

    Any comments?
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Well. So far this breaks every map.

    BUT ITS SO MUCH FUN!

    I suggest people make Tribes style maps to accomodate :P
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Just played with it . I like how it uses cells on a second by second basis . you can kinda guage how far to push the limits . its physics remind me of GTA san andreas . so it was kind of familiar territory .
    Now i am imagining maps that will actually use this tool . some ons maps would be fun to use it on . but look out for the actaul jets on Ons_reborn :). But I think any map that utilizes objective based advancement could use this jetpak . Maybe turn Gravitate into an Onslought map with the jetpak . for (honorflalsjvLSIDgbv ) whatever that map is called, take it and set it on one end and keep it ctf .of course tweak the gravity on it . that might be interesting .
    I dont know what you had in mind with this mod but im getting ideas for it left and right . this could influence new types of maps and game modes .

  • Lunar Lander. Could be fun to make a Lunar Lander based map (Since the downward-thrust mechanic is nearly identical).

  • I was going to suggest a smaller version of the Tribes 2 map Katabatic for ons/ctf. I probably wont have time to put it together over the next few months as I am extremely busy.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Katabatic is lousy for armours only gameplay, perhaps Tribes 1 remakes such as Dangerous Crossing would be fair better.

    However Nexuiz is quite different from Tribes, without automated bunnyhopping, skiing is frustrating, but it is only one of the factors [energy management, disc MAs, invos, etc.] that would result in lack of satisfaction when playing those remakes.

    I think this feature (they call it 'pogostick') has made it into 2.5

    Imo, this should be as a separate pickable thing.

    I asked the same thing. Apparently, it would be whenever we have a nice jetpack model.

  • I would love for people to play more ONS, of course for that we need good maps. I'm gonna take a look at the current maps and see how they are. Maybe in the future a jetpack would be a great thing to have, as pickable like suggested or something else.
    I wonder, what is the intent with this jetpack? To include it in maps or like a separate mod?

    Your idea is good, it's just that there would need to be some very good tutorials on how to create ONS maps. I believe there are some tutorials, I haven't taken a look at them so I don't know how good they are. But I believe one could learn a lot from that as well.
    I have updated my Linux Mint computer and compiled NetRadiant on it, now I'm currently going back into mapping to learn myself. When I know enough I plan on resuming my video tutorials on mapping. It's just it takes a bit of time, I have other stuff on the side to do as well. :/

  • Well I'd be happy to make a good few ons maps but I just dont have the time. I already have a large mapping project for Neverwinter Nights 2 going as well as exams up and coming in the next few months.

    Damn life. Never have the chance to do anything.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • It already is a separate mutator.

    But, in the future, I'd like it like this:

    - it should eat "fuel", not "cells" (another stat for it, that is)
    - the g_jetpack mutator should allow self-regenerating of the fuel (like in tribes)
    - maps could contain a jetpack pickup, which basically would contain the fuel for it

    This of course depends on someone making a model for it.

    but I prefer to implement this after the 2.5 release. In 2.5 it'll be just that mutator, and later it can be an actual item.

  • What about making a hook separate movement item like jetpack and not using weapon slot? (Actually, the same way it was before making it a weapon and jetpack using "e" instead)
