My ideas for Nexuiz

  • -Specular maps

  • Unless i'm misstaken specular maps are the same thing as gloss which is supported and used by Nexuiz..

    Outdoor maps are cool and might be a thing for the future. But you are very welcome to help with this if you do not want to wait for others to do it :)

    Dual wielding would require a lot a model work first and i do also think it does not fit Nexuiz. As well was those actobatics. Nexuiz is too fast for such things and Nexuiz should already have enough movement tricks.
    (Yeah acrobatics were nice in JediKnight games but not in Nexuiz)

  • We have spec maps, and i hate dual wielding.

    Nexuiz really could use more outdoor maps though. Problem is there are no grass or terrain textures.
    Our engine could handle very large outdoor scenes, there were just no mappers who wanted to take advantage of that.

  • The reson why mappers shy away from terrain in nexuiz/darkplaces is most likely becuz the limited shader support. ie no textureblending. to make a terrain look good that would mean the mapper has to blend each texure used manualy into a new image and manualy apply it over the terrain surface. this kinda work takes ages and is error prone. untill darkplaces gets some way to do terrainblending or megatexturing i dont think anyone will take the time requierd to make any large scale terrain, even if the engine can push the polys needed.

    i think C.Brutail short and mysterious "Not correct..." refers to some texures and models he did for noobmaps. or am i wrong here?

  • Mainly. Or the Facing Worlds. That's a pretty open map.
    Or once I wanted to make a big forest, if we had the old forum, I could show up shots... I think I have deleted the images too from ym webspace now.

    Halo had certain options where they could be different weapons, which I could see being usful in some cases, but I also feel dual weilding is wrong for Nexuiz.

  • isn't that called 'easter eggs' or something like that (i mean littls programs hidden in bigger) ?
    it remembers me my science studies... we had some Hewlett Packard numerical oscilloscopes on which a complicated key-combinaison was running tetris.... think that was this one :

    I think the change to set impulse to 0 after all impulses were handled did break tetris.

    :P add +crouch to en/disable tetris in spectator mode :P

    Hope you have read the answers :). Spec is in, outdoor maps need more work on the engine and ofcourse mappers doing some maps.
    And keeping an eye on realiistic things its very very unlikely Nexuiz will soon be on those events as there is not big company with big money behind it.. On the other hand an other nice free game got quite some attention so there is hope that Nexuiz can archive the same thing :)

  • Nexuiz already has such a weapon - the rocket launcher! Just hit secondary without firing the rocket first, works great if you have 2 health left and dive into a crowd...

    When you'd activate /kill, you'd blow the hell up.

    It was absolutely awesome.
