  • Actually this was the final straw for me.. i vote to getting rid of Mikee from this forum (AGAIN!) and this time not allowing him to get back and also getting rid of all new accounts he might create. With his fucking bad behavoir he just damages the Nex-Community and he really had more then enough chances in the past.

  • Yes, but it's better if he'd doing his stuff here, where everyone at least knows about him.

On Phoronix, people may actually take him serious.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • "My main problem with open-source gaming is that there are so many crappy quake clones (like this one)."

He just posted to dis the game. Peeps were saying the same thing all day on slashdot.
They happily disregard all the work that went into the engine and game code.

I responded (after reading the same thing all day on slashdot), saying I wasn't a dev or anything representative of the community, but that he can happily not play the game if he thinks it's so "crappy". He's the type that just comes and complains and demands and nags, right?

I said that people contribute to the game because they enjoy doing so, not to meet up to his expectation of what is or is not a "crappy quake clone". Knowing of all the work that has gone into nexuiz by the devs over the year since 2.4, I was very offended by his flippant (and targeted) remark. I didn't respond to the slashdot remarks all day, but needed to respond to him... why should nexuiz be, on a release day, immediatly be thrown into the garbage heap as a "crappy quake clone (like this one)"?

The nexuiz community isn't notorious, other than for the fact it has nearly zero cheating.

I'm sorry if my response damaged something. I assumed that it would not given that everyone has encountered people that just criticize ANYTHING that is released and, usually disliking said people, they would not be fans of drelyn86 either. Also it seemed that phorex was a very slow forum (not used much), unlike slashdot, and responding to drelyn86 wouldn't gain much audiance other than him and those that often deal with him.

  • There will always be bad replies.. can't stop those. But its important to keep friendly and making others that see both the bad reply and 'our' reply to it that this is a friendly community that can deal with critique and even outright trash. And honestly i do not get the impression when reading 1/4 of your 'current' posts which is why i'm quite pissed at you and almost belive you do that with intention..

  • Div's reply was top class. Because of it, the original poster was more enthusiastic about Nexuiz even after Mikee's initial response then when he started out...

I agree it was perfect. Maybe you guys should use it like a setup in future where you can make the friendly folk of the community really shine.

I was dissapointed with the responses on Slashdot when I read them so I definately see where Mikee was coming from, even if he did hit like a steam train in the end.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Crappy Quake clone my ass! This is hands down the best ego shooter since the very first Unreal Tournament! I've played at the very least some 1200 videogames in my lifetime and this is is by far one of the best out there. If there's one thing I learned about open-source projects it's that there's almost always something better about them than proprietary ones. This has to be due to the fact that these aren't your bored-to-hell guys trying make a paycheck (which is essentially what I am at my job as a dishwasher), these are guys who are busting their asses in their spare time to put together stuff like this because they enjoy it and because of that they're putting their best effort into it.
