Great idea! Thanks a lot FruitieX for your work!

My pc is obsolete to play the official version
and my connection too slow to download it.

  • It has been made by FruitieX who is an avid Linux user himself. So I would be surprised if it did not work on Linux :)

  • You can just extract it to a folder on your hard drive and run either the nexuiz-glx or nexuiz-sdl executables. They should be set as executable already, if they are not you have to do it yourself. Hope this helps.

  • i'm not sure what you mean, but you should be able to play over the internet or on a local network, if that's what you're referring to.

  • I think Nexuiz's gfx hardware requirements went up, can this run on Windows?

  • I'm running Arch 64bit on my notebook and wanted to see if I can play DSN there. I had problems with darkplaces and incompatible JPEG headers. I had to add missing bytes to some JPEG struct and raise it's expected size.

Is that normal or Arch is fuckedup?

Also when do you expect to make it work with Nexuiz 2.5.2? (scoreboard and HUD are quite useless now and you never know if you have the flag)

  • I'll probably wait until 2.5.3 now, meanwhile you can enable these cvars in 2.5.2 which will be the major tweaks of recent DSN anyway: cl_playerdetailreduction -2 and r_showsurfaces 3. Only change apart from this will obviously be a smaller size, and possibly simple items as in the previous DSN release.

I'm planning on releasing a minimalist version which will be similar to previous DSN releases, but also a bigger version which still contains jpeg compressed textures.
In case you wonder why it's taking so long: I've been busy with other stuff, and am going to rewrite the messy script from scratch once I find motivation of doing so.

Weapon models still need bogging down somehow, they probably have a higher polycount than the low detail playermodels do. :P

  • amoebios, fruitiex...I love you guys.

If I were a gorgeous curvaceous sinfully voluptuous compusively faithful nymphomanic, I would have your children.

But since I'm not, I'll just say "keep up the good work"!

EDIT: you two not female, right? cause I'd hate to sound presumptious on the interweb :D

  • We're sturdy, stew-spitting manly men, alright.

Talking of which, i think it's time for a new f/m poll here on Alientrap.
