  • I know I should have been able to figure this out by now, but how do you get the nifty homing rockets to fire? So far it seems to be almost random.

Also, is it just me or is the right-click mode on this weapon nearly useless? Puts on a nice fireworks display but seems to do nearly no damage.

    Thanks. :)

  • 1. The Primary fire fires a laser, when it hits your target, the missles fire and home in on the target.

    2. No its not just for fire works, it can cause ALOT of damage at close range, it can also destroy other seeker rockets coming for you. :)

  • Yes, with primary you have to hit them with that 'laser' which tags them- very satisfying if you pull it off.

Secondary fire however is, in most situations, useless. Too erratic and short ranged.

  • Secondary is only effective against tag rockets, at least i couldnt deflect anything else + you cant use it at high speed because then you damage yourself with the firewall (not that it would damage too much :P )

Laser beam travels at 300 000 km/s... that thing is some kind of miniature homing beacon that sticks to a target.

Oh and by the way, from these exact thoughts, I made a proposal some time ago to allow tag rockets home on anything 'tagged' (walls, floor, etc), not just players.

    Apparently this idea was rejected...

  • Thanks for the replies. I figured it had to be the "tag with the laser" thing. Maybe I'm just not very good at it, it seems like many times I hit with the laser but the rockets don't go off. Maybe it has to be more precise?

Do you have to keep the fire button down for the rockets to fire after a laser hits perhaps?

  • Oh, even if you aren't firing at all? Interesting. I guess I just suck at aiming. :) Thanks.

  • Might be not so. Seeker is the hardest to aim weapon due to slow 'tag' projectile. That, and the useless secondary fire, and also the fact that you can hide from the rockets behind the nearest sharp corner, renders this weapon pretty much useless. I hope it gets redesigned somewhere along the way, or at least merged with hagar primary fire.

  • Yeah, at first I thought it was really cool, but I'm getting to the point of being annoyed when it spawns instead of the rocket launcher (my fave weapon).

  • Seeker is one of my favorite weapons, i dont think the secondary is useless. One day in ctf, this dude kept invading my base, i killed him with the secondary so much, he gave up and started defending his base, then i started invading his... then his freind came up from behind and killed me. :D

Sorry Darc, you'll need to stop playing nexuiz, see you thought about things and used strategy. The proper nexuiz player sits infront of a screen and the screen flashes about and if it doesn't flash about enough the player demands that some weapon be removed or merge with something else. The player doesn't care about other people who do use that weapon, and will push until he gets his way, and he will get his way.

  • I like to think of the TAG Seeker as a test for your aiming with a non-hitscan weapon, and when you succeed you blow the hell out of the guy you tested your aim on.

Unless the other player has a rocket launcher and manages to detonate all your TAG rockets before they hit :P
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.
