  • heh, thread derailed? and @C.Brutail, I'm liking the mortar due to it's rocket-like nature, the shotguns burst fire is neat, electro is kinda cool, and the way you can switch weapons during the refire time I like.. Movement I pretty much hate, but that's probably more because I'm not used to it. With rockets I at first liked that I could remote detonate them but now it just feels like easy mode =\

You cannot change 2 weapons only that the numbers fit more to the description and call that balancing. This will always change the balance against all other weapons as well. Just looking at the numbers (DPS), the mortar is ridicilous weak, but we all know it is not. The Rocketlauncher is very strong and the main choice for every bulldog/infight, especially in combination with the mortar. Dont look at the numbers which never tell you how useful a weapon is ingame. If you use the weapons in the right situations, they are all amazingly strong. Of course, there are a lot more situations where you can use the mortar/nex over the RL, but this doesnt have anything to do with the blast radius, speed or damage. It has something to do with the maps!

Well, I've put some numbers coz the numbers change the way the weapon work, but I've evaluated how much the weapons are strong in game too.
    So to be more precise...
RL is very stupid coz of its blast radius. It just doesn't make any sense at all this small radius.

Mortar should have less power by itself compared to a rocket. This is the way one expects to be.

The mortar has some other nice features that makes it very strong in actually all range: fast grenade launch and spam with sec. fire with a high firerate. These features increase very much its power. U can hit with it more precisely than with the rl and thus damage the enemy very much, more then with the RL. Basically it is stronger than any other weapon (a part the nex) by far. This causes abuse of nex and mortar, while the rl lost its 2nd position definitively behind the nex.

The other weapons are all behind nex/mortar/rl, and are used only withouth the top ones or to kill the enemy when he is almost dead (with the mg for exampe).

So I've considered all these things and now i can say that keeping thisRL, with the NEEDED (IMO) modifications I've proposed, the only remaining thing to do is to weaken the mortar, as div suggested after my previous post.

I'd like to use also the electro as an effective weapon, or even the crylink, the MG, as a real replacement of the mortar but with the current allmighty mortar isnt possible. U just keep using the mortar. Over and over again. (With he nex obviously).

  • I think mortar and rocket and nex damages should be equal. Mortar is pretty strong due to fast projectile, but RL's advantage is remote detonation and unlimited range, so it kinda evens up (at least IMHO).

Eldrek: Yes, the RL is the secondary RL makes it "easy", but don't forget, this applies for others too, so it's actually deadlier, and you have to think about that too, so on the other hand it's a bit harder too ;)

He did not make it. Facing worlds was a disease that stuck UT, so of course it had to strike Nexuiz to.

If C.Brutail hadn't ported it, someone else would have, and it'd be much more sucky.

Just imagine if someone made a facingworlds27.bsp - and everyone would want to play it.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Facing is great... and camping(smart one.... one nex shot and hise and change position) is great but only with 3vs3 or similar.
And well it turns hell with public servers and 6vs6 snipers.
