  • Voted. Of course Nexuiz is the best project for gamers. I mean, this is so obvious this category shouldn't even be voteable because the result is as plain as day in beforehand. But maybe we also win other categories?
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • I doubt because wesnoth in general has favorable opinion in all reviews for being not another shooter despite that all these shooters are different.

I don't know how important that is though. As long as I remember to reply before the 17th.

    1) Our project is a free, open source action-oriented first person shooter.

    2) We should win because we are the most advanced free open source shooter in the areas of graphics engine features, gameplay balance and userbase.

    3) Our best looking screenshot with the Nexuiz logo watermarked visibly either in the center or off in one corner of said screenshot. Needs to show off advanced lighting features of engine, as well the action-ness of Nexuiz (characters shooting, jumping and exploding preferably).

  • I got a suggestion for the second one:

    2) We should win because Nexuiz impressively shows how the creativity of an active community can successfully be merged into a state-of-the-art project by people who commit their spare time just because they love the project.

(If I am making false assumptions about anyones motivations please feel free to ignore me or to hit me on the head with an electro combo next time you meet me online).

Wouldn't that fit to what Sourcefourge actually wants to reward?

Edit: You can also add "And because Nexuiz is the best project for gamers." Didn't count the characters, though :?

Another Edit: maybe we should choose a screenshot that shows off nice textures and effects, but preferrably no gibs - these could easily bring up negative emotions. Non-gamers are often a bit sensitive to such things...

  • Giving that Nexuiz presents itself as OLD-SCHOOL fast paced SHOOTER, gibs shouldn't be removed from screenshots. Gibs are in Doom, gibs are in Quake, I'm not even talking about UT, where you can behead enemies. Gibs are part of Nexuiz and hiding gibs would be as disguising one's true self.

  • In the USA, yes :P
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • It turns out those religious conservative zealots that I have to put up with here in th US tolerate video game sex, much less then video game violence. I think this is because conservitards love it when they find something to bitch about.

They think bitching about media that is against their moral values will make them go to heaven or something. I blame this mess over censorship, and many other things, on religion.

What's worse, is that atheists have fallen below 4% of the American population, making Bible thumping, and those that thump them, really hard to avoid.

Speaking of censorship, I hear Germany has some big list of video games that you cannot advertise, show in public, and must be bought by request in under the table transactions. The United States has no such list of banned games, but I'm expecting one to come soon.

The German game banlist is here: http://www.cybercafe-software.com/indexlist.html
Is Germany really strict with censorship?
    My will be done.

  • Then one could come to some middle-eastern European country where censorship exists only in words. However, then you would need to cope with prevailing corruption in various levels of governing structures. I haven't heard of any banned book, film or game in where I live. "Mein Kampf" might be illegal to distribute but one can read for educational purposes.

And, Germany, has Icari Warriors banned.

    Image

And I'm not even mentioning Nam. :?

Yet, one can distribute Custer's Revenge in Germany.
