  • Thread topic says its all.

    RL is virtually useless against someone with mortar + low ping (actually not always low ping, but this happens most of the time)

    In fact it's not just that, it's possibly the most annoying thing in the world in nexuiz.

    Crylink does this too, but that actually takes some skill and is a good defensive weapon.

    Remove this stupid projectile detonation and make the RocketLauncher useful. Thank you.

  • I think it gives a good bit of tactics by knowing the weapons that you can counter a high damage weapon by using one with lower damage.

    BUT! It can have the annoying situation where the rocket launcher becomes utterly useless.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Don't know about grenades, but seeing two rockets collide in the middle of a fight is kinda cool. At least I never noticed it in 2.4, but now I see it happen from time to time, and in some way it makes me like the game even more.

  • I'd say no too, this is a nice feature and shouldn't be removed imo. Maybe cvar it instead so it can be disabled on server if anyone wants to.

  • Kojak, since you're the best with the mortar, remember why I named the player class that counters the Rocketeer after you?

    While the GL functions as a counter to the RL, LordHavoc's idea to add guidance to the RL will partially alleviate this.

  • Not just partially. You can learn to move the RL missile in a path where it is above the floor so far that a grenade won't hit it, and move it down only to hit your target.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

    dude I get low ping and you don't hear me complaining... Grab a friggin Hagar pelt the suckers with a hail storm of rockets, works for me.

    Moral of the story... Quit bitchin' and get even!

    low ping or not... it's possible to wrack up the frags if you know the weapons and how they work under various latency conditions, take a little more skill than you'd ordinarily need otherwise.

    At 300...

    The MG and most energy weapons will have some delay (not much) whereas the Shotgun has virtually nil.

    At the end of the day it's all about tactics.

    Get rid of explosive weapons? That's about as bad as complaining about Camping. (not that you can pull it off in Nexuiz)

    There is more to it than damage. RL becomes increasingly useless with increasing range while nex is as strong in close as it is in sniper range.

    Nex > RL _most_ of the time.

    In my experience, going toe-toe rl<->nex means the nex'r nets a nuked most of the time. Given the two players are somewhat equal in skill that is.

    I think a rl without this would mean is needs a serious nerf to fit the balance, and a seriously deballed rl is not Nexuiz (to me).

    Alpha also wants the RL made into a gelding. He want's the damage to be nerfed down to 110, you know, so you can't kill him with it.

    Also he's infatuated with drew barrymore. I don't think she's pretty, even with her plastic surgery.

    How to kill a nex user: jump over his head, shot gun him while doing this, duck into a corner, come around the other time, one more shot finishes him off.

    That's what I do. Works every time.

    You know the one place it won't work... on open maps. The nex user still might get off 2 shots and kill you, better nerf it down to 50 dmg :P.

    But what weapon must be nerfed next.. because you know peeps will just be pwning you with something else now.

    Nex isn't all that good anymore, and the RL is getting nerfed down from 150 to 120 or even a super shitty 110... ty alpha and everyone else who want's useless weapons :P.

    You can use a laser to push someone back, or use it to get away from them.
