To the others: please make such recordings too!

Extra points for knowing who had this idea first... hint: he's got a strong Finnish accent.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I don't understand what you mean as I can't open the downloaded thing with whatever they say do it with nero so I did but I have to buy the new function to read the .ogg files so could you give more explanation or do it in another .

  • you should definetely buy the new function to open ogg.

I pronounce it as in the audio file played upon starting nexuiz. "the way it's meant to be played .. err ... pronunciated"

  • I love incomplete standards to be supported by Firefox 3.5 - allows me to listen to ogg without additional software :)

That's how I used to pronounce it too (nexooeez)! That's how it's spelled damnit! :P

Nexius. That would be the "correct" spelling for how everyone else is pronouncing it here.

I don't understand ppl who gets upset about Nexuiz pronunciation, there are lots of other projects with unexpected pronunciation like GNU, MySQL, etc, etc

  • I spoke slowly on purpose because I know not everyone on here knows English well.

It has always annoyed me just how bad some of the names of open source software can be. I just had a chat with lordhavoc about the Nexuiz name a few nights ago. He confirmed the story behind the odd spelling...

<Doku-Laptop> ok...maybe you can answer this long lost question. Who named nexuiz? (or rather, who spelled it
    originally?)
    <LordHavoc> heehh
    <LordHavoc> err heheh
    <Doku-Laptop> :-)
    <LordHavoc> Vermeulen named it Nexiuz
<LordHavoc> an artist misspelled it when typing up the logos
<LordHavoc> he didn't really care, so he adopted the misspelling
    <Doku-Laptop> I see
<Doku-Laptop> so that rumor is true
<LordHavoc> then news sites saw it that way and he never changed it
<Doku-Laptop> someone said that they messed up when they registered the domain
<LordHavoc> I nearly convinced him to change the name officially before 1.0 release
<LordHavoc> but I never pushed hard enough

Hehe good idea, but it was so slow that it was funny to me :)

I was there last night too, what can I say it doesn't bother me at all, also I don't think there is an easy way to "fix" it. Its been long enough to be a mistake, it seems something intended or at least accepted.

So better live with it, right?

But maybe it would be nice to change the announcer whenever we releaase 3.0 ;)
