I love it when a plan comes together...

So, I can just download Nexuiz-patchnewest and patch my current version (actually, just to be safe, I'm patching a copy...) right?

Oh, and any idea how long before we get a changelog? Like hours? Days? Weeks?

  • I tested #2 and #3 and neither have presented themselves to me. SDL always closes the window then opens a new one like normal, and window mode while leaving the mouse on WGL is just fine.

#1 is fixed by the way...

I think it's time we finish this bastard up and release, we have a lot of new things in it and Nexuiz players need to see the new amazingness of it.

  • I played for all of two single-player matches and so far no problems, although i was a tab bit worried when I couldn't find my weapon list (the words "SVN Development Version" were mostly covering it :P)

The new HUD is amazingly awesome. The new (at least I think there are new ones... either way, there are some I've never seen before... :P) menu options are fantastic (less reasons to use the console!)

And the gibs! Yes! Finally the gibs are different depending on species! I love it!

I've gotta get some more time in on this thing later.

  • I really need to reinstall my copy of the Internet soon, then I can test this as my intended Internet distribution of choice already has these packages available.

  • I like the new position of the text that used to be at the top-center. The only complaint thus far is that the SVN warning covers up part of my weapons list.

There is an easy way around it: open the console (~ button or Shift+ESC) and type showbrand 0

Alternatively you could also create a autoexec.cfg in the data dir and add the command there and the warning won't show up again :-).

  • I'm not quite sure if this is a bug or what, but I stood directly next to a bot and fired repeatedly and it just looked away and shot at someone else on a lower platform. This happened several times. Is this just the AI acting normal, or what? Seems a little odd to me. Never seem them do that before..

  • Well the game seems fine so far. I've played through the majority of the campaign I think.

Is there a way to turn the motion blur off? I'm finding it very distracting and disorientating.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • had some lag issues on a 2.5 server.. gametype was minsta and my shots (primary and secondary) were coming at least a whole second after i fired. they came from the same spot where i was when i pulled the trigger, even if i had turned around and left. with normal graphics turned on, i had some serious lagginess as well..had to go to lowest setting..

Either in the menu under effects down right or in console "r_motionblur 0"

The first lag was network lag, probably bad ping on the server (Not related to Nexuiz). My question is with the FPS lag, do you get the same performance with Nexuiz 2.5.1 SDL as the beta build? If not, this could be a build problem with the OS X SDL libs.

  • Question: I use DSN to play, for I can't get a decent FPS otherwise.

If I unzip the patch to the nexuiz Directory, do I have to re-unzip the DSN stuff again? I'm thinking yes, since settings will be overriden.

Don't unzip DSN again, that'll break the upgrade. The only way to do it properly is to carry out the same mods to 2.5.2 as are done to 2.5.1 to make DSN.

  • Sound issue.

The sound just stopped, as in "just disappear", no comeback there... :(

    Playing on DCC beginners, basement.
System, ubuntu 64bit, alsa, pulseaudio. Ran game with nexuiz-linux-glx.sh
How can I provide more information than this?
2.5.1 worked fine in this regard.

    Update: Happened again.

So in other words, wait for the guys from DSN to make DSN compatible.

  • @paperclips: that's weird. I got that issue in 2.5+. But that's totally pulseaudios fault.. because killing it fixes the sound for me.
I REALLY hope Ubuntu will remove that crap. The sooner the better. Why would anyone need a sound server? It does not make sense.

No man, _no_. Its just badly implemented, they fixed it A LOT since heron/intrepid. Pulseaudio is good shit. I mean stream sound over network, changing a applications, per application volume control, output application to a certain soundcard (this I use a lot, so nice), low latency etc etc. Its all good. Its like the laser, with a bit of faith and some work, you'll get there! ;D
Yeah, I got that in svn as well. :/ however it have only happened twice so far yet, and I grind alot.. ;) So hopefully it will behave, further on.
But... is this bug something you devs have been able to pinpoint? It feels like, it only happen on certain maps and/or situations...
