On startup, Nexuiz queries all servers on the master server list to get info like name, players etc. on the server.
Thus, the connection pattern is:
1. one packet to each master server (there's three, or maybe four of them), port 27950
2. multi-packet replies from each master server
3. one packet to each IP in the combined list from the master servers (typically to port 26000)
4. zero or one reply from each such IP
The hosts you blocked are blocked because they are Nexuiz servers hosted in different universities. Feel free to block them, but these ARE servers you might want to play on. As Nexuiz is a GAME, it is played by STUDENTS too. And some students simply are hosting servers at their university... nobody is trying to collect data on you there.
Actually, they're blocked because they're on a pre-made list by the software developper. I can allow individual IP's myself, but I didn't put them on the list to begin with.
Also, I can play every single server just fine, which is why I thought that something else was happening here.
