  • Hey I just found this game on http://sourceforge.net
From the screenshots and videos it looks awsome!
I was wondering if it can be played over a network with out having to be online like Halo PC/CE?
I have satellite internet which has a Ping of 1200 and makes playing online games lame.
And I don't want to spend all afternoon downloading a 600MB game to find out that I can't play with my friends when they come over and use my other computers.

  • You most certainly can play it on the LAN :)

By default, the 'create game' tab creates a LAN game.

So then is there a way to make it create an internet game that'll show up on the servers list, from in-game?

  • We've been over this ten tousand times now, but here you go:
Yes, you can start a listen server, but due to performance problems, (if your FPS goes down, your server will lag for others) this is limited by a cvar that must be set through the console or the advanced option menu (the cvar is defaulted to make a LAN game).

Sorry, I hadn't seen any of them.

So where is this setting in the advanced options menu or what is the cvar? I haven't run into it before.

  • The CVAR is probably something like "sv_public". (BUT DONT USE IT!1101)

You don't have to download whole Nexuiz if you just want to try out the basic features. There's DamnSmallNexuiz that's also available at SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dsn/

Though, it's probably not a good first impression. :P

  • I feel your pain. i have satellite too

I think it's worth it to get the whole game, even if you can't play online. i suggest going to a public place with fast internet and getting it there, then transferring it to your computer.
Why has a developer ever needed any reason other than "it looks bloody awesome?"

Ya Satellite sucks but it's all there in my area, other in 9kbps Dial up.
I've played a few online games and have gotten the nickname The Lagger of Death in all of them. But whatever, I've downloaded Nexuiz and it awesome.
Now my friends and me have something else to play other then Halo CE!!

Meh, satellite is the biggest scam ever. As a matter of fact I may be suing Hughes pretty soon for breach of contract AND false advertisement. If their latencies were disclosed I NEVER would have considered them.
