I used the search and can't seem to find how to update to 2.5.1.

I am running ubuntu 9.04 and installed nexiuz 2.5 via deb package. I downloaded the patch 2.5.1 zip fle and am trying to move patch data20090501patch.pk3 file.

From what I found on the internet I need to move it to "/usr/share/games/nexuiz/data"

However when I try to do this I get access denied. I am new to linux and don't know how to move the file there.

I am also assuming that is what I need to do to update nexiuz.

I went to synaptic package manger and searched for nexuiz. It says I have the deb package 2.5.1~getdeb1 installed. But, when I join a server it says I have 2.5 installed.

I fugured it out.

Had to put the patch in my home folder and us the


sudo cp <filename> /path/to/directory/for/<filename>

Your package management system may not like this. It's not how they're supposed to work. It wants you to wait until your distro updates the packages in their respository. If you don't like this situation, move to another distro. Putting packages in the dtsros repositories is also down to the distro, so nag/help them if you want anything doing.
