Having a little time to kill, I decided to do some stats on places where we have servers and where the players on my server ([NL] Simba CTF) are coming from. It seems we are mostly getting attention in a few countries, so we could probably use some more per-country promotion.

I think we should really try to spread the game into more countries. I am somewhat surprised we have so little players/servers in Scandinavia, but perhaps that's because I only have very limited results of the playerbase. If any other serveradmins would like to run these tests, drop me a line on IRC and I will share my code.

Anyone have any bright ideas how to spread the game to countries we apparently don't have many players in?

IPs are not unique, if I did make them unique it would outbalance the results as some players may have dynamic IPs. It's really just a rough statistic of where my players are connecting from. The main conclusions could be that we have a whole lot of germans playing this game, and fairly few in other european countries. Having these stats from more servers would actually give a better idea of where Nexuiz players are located.

The question I'm asking myself is WHY is nexuiz so relatively popular in germany?

I guess most of the "promotion" of Nexuiz has taken place in Germany, not sure how but I'd guess eg. many PC magazines have reviewed and shipped Nexuiz on a free DVD. (again, just a guess)

In relation to the population, the server is most popular with players from Switzerland (about twice as many than from Germany or Austria)

I'm planning to raise Nexuiz popularity in Sweden. First step might be to start a Swedish Nexuiz community site. And add more Swedish servers, which I need help on.

And esteel & Strahlemann were in TV some years ago
