  • As many of you know about it, I don't think it's necessary to explain what it is.

    Is there any chance that DP might get it added?
    It's a lot more accurate then "ping" in console and it also shows real lag, packet loss, etc.

    I thought asking wouldn't hurt ;)

  • Well, as I experience myself (mainly at work), after a time you can leave on your own lagometer. Playing with package loss is quite controllable.

    The only thing thats really hurting is an unsteady ping because you just cant predict when your weapon's gonna shoot (if it shoots at all). And thats the point where You have to stay calm and suffer until it's gettin steady again.
    A lagometer wouldnt help then very much imho.

    Nevertheless I'd appreciate one, especially because it would become more comfortable for our US fellas playing on EU servers. :)

    many != all, so what's a lagometer?!

    Is there any chance that DP might get it added?

    the next release will show lag & package losss in scoreboard. And how could it be more accurate than the ping command? ping already shows the real lag.

  • Well ping is not real time, so unless you can play and type ping the whole day, it won't do you much good. Also, you never have any idea when you hit a lag spike.
    With the lagometer, you have this information in the corner of the screen at all times.
    While it won't change anything for you, at least you'd know whats going on.
    Oh, and the ping command shows ping, not lag. ;) There is a difference.

  • Code: Select all
    shownet 1

    That's a lagometer but it needs changing to modern rates.

  • Sounds good.
    I got used to the q3 lagometer but anything at this point would be usefull in finding out whether it's my connection that's causing the framerate drops, jerkyness, etc, or if it's my machine.
