  • Hi all :)

Parksto and me were disturbed by the crosshairs that nexuiz offers. The problem is that its hard to find a crosshair color that fit to both dark and light background.

So parksto made a custom crosshair.

You can see its behavior on this short video : http://www.free-fps.com/download/crosshair.mov

The package is available there : http://www.free-fps.com/download/sto_crosshairs.zip
Just rename the .zip to a .pk3, then place it into the /data folder in the Nexuiz directory. The 2 custom crosshairs will be loaded in the 5th and 6th place in the crosshair list in the menu (the last on the right and the one before). Those crosshairs are better used with the crosshair color set to white and the size set to 1.

You can also select the new crosshairs through the console :
    Code: Select all
    crosshair 5

    or
    Code: Select all
    crosshair 6

There is a little difference between the two crosshairs, its only the center pixel.

  • Yeah you can use up to 32 crosshairs but the menu is hardcoded to 6 (+none) at the moment as DP does not offer more.. It should be possible to make this dynamic though. Using a custom crosshair and the console its possible to choose such a crosshair.

yeah that we know, but actually i don't change my crosshair so often... so i thought it was easier to have it in the menu to try, and just remove the .pk3 from the data folder if it doesn't please you.

but you give me an idea :) i'll perhaps make different crosshairs for some weapons and bind the crosshair command to my weapon changes :)

is it so much 'harcoded' or is it just a file to edit ? in that case it would be possible to provide the crosshairs with a menu modification in the pk3 so that they appear in the menu.

  • how do i bind the crosshairs to change on automatic weapon switch? i remember a mod did that, so you had different crosshairs for every weapon.

  • nonono i did that but i mean on automatic weapon switch, if i pick up a gun.

but i'm back to "nothingness" anyway. every crosshair gets annoying after a while. except.... is it possible to make an animated crosshair?

  • No you can't have animated crosshairs and the normal Nexuiz code does also not allow to have different crosshairs per weapon. But you can try crosshair 9/10 both have two colors. black and you choosen crosshair color. Depending on background you can see either of both better.. maybe thats enough for you ;)
