  • It looks pretty - though it doesn't run too well ;)

I like the new muzzle flash. It makes it look like a rapid-fire pneumatic nailgun. Pretty nice.

  • Try reducing your curve subdivisions. Although, if someone could tell me how to remove the landing sound from being played. I have noticed that between it and the shotgun's ricochet it will eat 5fps on my computer. Another issue may be that DP's curve traceline routines need to be optimised somehow.

To summarize that, this map needs a little more work to be done.

  • So, no one else has anything at all to say about this map.

  • It makes me think of Tribes 2 ;) - both that it is terrain and that it has these "boundaries"...

but I have yet to test it. Though, it still has "test" in its name, so I should maybe not host it on my server...

as for the sound thing - no chance as of now.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • looking good. must have taken some tme to do all those manual textureblends =)

i havent been able to test this map yet, my conputer is beeing unstable in 3d games and i dont have time to find out whats wtong with it right now :| perhaps in the weakend ill get some free time to fix n try.

    a few toughts:
patches dont realy gain you alot in dp, siznce dp does not dynamicaly reduce the subdivs on patches far away like (io)q3 does. Also the patches are the reson for thise "borders" that show up. I think you may get better results using brushwork for the terrain, and using phong shading to make it apeer smooth.
    HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
    <Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D

  • Actually I figure that with any luck I may just make the patches non-collidable for players. Instead I would just have a dramatically reduced brush version. THe problem Im having now is the in the places where the clipping version intersects the terrain it block light out and causes "pools" of shadow

Strangely enough I had something similar a few months ago. I am running opensuse 10.0 with the nvidia drivers from the website and it kept freezing or actually rebooting during play.

I tried everything... downloading the drivers and recompiling, re-seating the card, even booting into windows, (spit, swear), which was on the same hard disk in a seperate partition.

In the end it turned out to be???

The hard disk! Yeah, that's what I thought too! The disk was failing and paging in both Linux and windows suffered which resulted in the aforementioned behaviour. Now I come to look back through the logs it WAS staring me in the face IF I'd bothered to look. Just thought the card was going squiffy.

'uncorrectable errors.... apparently some military guy, (colonel something IIRC), was panicking about it'. WHO KNEW? :D

Anyway - I'd check your hardware before you start any major overhaul of the op.sys/drivers/etc.

Thats strange.. what are you using to make the clipping "hull"?

hardware is allredy examined as far as possible with normal methods (memtest, surfacescanning of drives, temp/voltage checks etc etc)

  • For now I'm using brushes that or purely caulk. I don't know if this should work or not, this is one of my first few maps. I have tried using the _cs key, to no avail

  • The wight grid is ther cause I don't like invisible walls, and I couldn't figure out a better way of doing it. IT was inspired by tribes vengeance, so there you go.
