  • Hehe. You might wonder now. It may be a little late but i think it would add some "real game" feeling. Unlocking player models at least. I'm not so sure about unlocking weapons or other items. Maybe somebody else got an idea.

  • Rare was excellent at incorporating secret features in their games, like Goldeneye and Banjo-Kazooie.

Obtaining items in-game are a thing of the past. Cheat codes and unlockable content should be unlocked through special points, available for purchase through the exclusive Planet Nexuiz VIP member's store.

Anyway, there are already secrets contained in the game, the likes of which this world is not prepared for.

  • I'm against unlockable weapons/items that affect the gameplay. If these were included, Nexuiz would be frustrating for new users because they would get pulverized by experienced players who have unlocked powerful weapons and power-ups.

There are? Give me an example!

  • The nuke bomb. You can only get it by killing 5 people in a row with nex then jump around for 5 minutes without fail and then the last thing would be to kill yourself by falling down taking the damage cause by the impact.

The nuke itself is great, you can kill everyone (except yourself) on the map 3 times in one minute. It's really cool but no one uses it cause they don't want to be rude.

  • New skins could be unlocked through progressing through the Campaign mode.

New weapon models, skins, and sounds could work out as long as damage and rate of fire and such went unchanged.

  • The poll did its job and is pretty clear. I was thinking the same about weapons but thought someone might have an idea. Models on the other hand wouldnt change the gameplay but motivate new players to play more. You could earn points either by frag counts, ladder wins or the campaign.

How about custom game modes? Or an "advanced" campaign? Could be patches instead of built-in extras. So you could download additional levels for the campaign.

Heh, you gave me an insight of Generals - Zero Hour. It would be cool with something like that. For you who haven't played that game. There's single player campaign and then skirmish which you play against the AI and you could earn medals after completing certain tasks, like building a certain amount of a specific building or destroying everyone in a certain amount of time. Something like that would be cool in Nexuiz too, where you could show off your earned medals or whatever.
It doesn't affect the gameplay but it shows how much time and effort a certain player puts into nexuiz.

Just something at the side of only playing multiplayer.

  • The Shotgun thread gave me following idea: Weapon upgrades. No "real" upgrades but a different handling. Lets say the shotgun gets an upgrade so it fires a quad instead of a triple round BUT each shot is weaker so the weapons remain balanced.

  • What is with this obsession of unlocking?

This isn't Battlefield afterall... thank god.
A game should be fun to play, from the first run onwards. Rewarding players who invest their life into playing a game just seems wrong. Either you're going to keep liking it, or you're not, changing the way a weapon fires doesn't make the game more fun, and adding weapons is pointless, especially in a game with no managed/official servers.

Yeah, the design of the game really doesn't compliment unlocking.

  • Dunno, if it was directed at my silly idea but just to clear things up. I'm also against unlocking items. My idea was more of single player/campaign thing and it's not so much of unlocking than just a fun "stats" thing where it keeps of certain goals that have to be accomplished.

For instance, people who cannot play on the net for some reason like I when I'm at home I get lags all over, or if the net is down etc. but that person wants to play Nexuiz there could be a fun campaign additional to the (now) standard campaign game modes mixed in together.

And for the "stats" thing it could be like gaining a title or something, and also, it doesn't even need to be shown in multiplayer (although that would be cool :P) That's what I more or less meant.
