I've set up a ladder server on a dedicated 3GHz P4 with 1GB ram and decent network-connection. Its running configuration as stated in the rules. Its a public server en thereby accessible in the browser.

Yeah sticky is fine.. It would really be great if more ladder servers come online so people around the world can enjoy a ladder game. If someone does setup one please post it here so players know where to find it.

giving a CC-password isn't needed. just make sure your ladder-server runs the given config (see the Rules page). people will only need to change the map and this can be done via "vcall chmap dm_xxxxx"

I have set up 3 US based servers for 1v1 ladder rules play.

They are all set as public servers, and can also be connected to from:

Hmm.. Whatever... Doesnt sound too good, but I guess noone will object as I'm the only norwegian in the ladder I understand eu is short for Europe, but also the European Union, wich norway is not a part of.. Sorry for offtopic.

The server(s) you play on have to be a "dedicated server" and may not be hosted on your own machine. But if you and your enemy both don't own such an "independant" dedicated server and are unable to borrow one (e.g. by asking in #nexuiz.ladder @ QNet), hosting a game locally is okay.

/me dumbass likely nix understand what Green tries to tell me here (sry!) as still a DAU in using the console and starting a server. The only thing I'm able to do is starting nexuiz and join a server from the list. I can also create a match, but special settings are just too much for me.

As I see, most of the ppl are doin' on tChr's ladder server. The US fellas got it good, they obviously have plenty 3 servers they simply have to join over the list. Is tChr's server the only one in Europe?

If it's so, I see upcoming bottlenecks upcoming when more members seriously start competing, nah?

So if there are more servers here, is it possible to post the server names here the same way the US servers are?

of course there will be a bottleneck if too few people are willing in BUYING A SERVER!! how shall there be a lot of servers if all peopel run around with "I wanna have fun but I'm not willing to pay for that" attitude ? hmm ?? HMMM ? yes, this way there cannot be a lot of servers.

there is another ladder server I'm hosting, however I'm not willing to make it completely public (in this thread). there are already too many people using it, what means that I often have the situation that the server is used when I'd like to play on it. If you'd like to have a 1on1 on my server (which should have a quite good connection for european players), you can ask me via PM or in irc #nexuiz.ladder ... only "friends" and people I know well gonna be allowed to use it

Cheerio Green, running a server is actually NOT mainly a money thang. Not every single playa needs his own server, and when 3 or 4 ppl get together to buy one, it wouldn't be that expensive. Even for a schwob

Excaclty. The problem is not hardware, you could whip together a server capable of running nexuiz for €300, finding somehwere to out it is the challgenge.

I just want to let people know that my server is not abseloutly permanent either. Its just Hardware not used at work at the moment, it the HW is needed at some point, i have to take it offline, I'll let you know if so hapens of cource.

the only way to get a good nexuiz server is also to have a good connection .. either conenct it to a university connection (although these might been loaded a lot and have lags) or have it hosted professionally (Strato etc. for germany, or all the other gameserver providers out there)

because of the high demand for another ladder server (Greens and tChrs were loaded with people sometimes) Ctrl+Alt+Del and I have decided to put up another ladder server. it should be up in a few days, maybe even tonight (i hope ).

nothing extraordinary. its an athlon xp2000+/512 mb ram/100 mbit, located in nürnberg, middle germany (heya, esteel ). its configured after the specifications mentioned in the ladder rules and will be non-public, cause its single purpose should be to be available for the ladder matches.

its online to the public for testing purposes now, but will be only for another day or two. if anyone wants to test it connect to:

if anyone encounters errors or bad lags or somethingi'd be glad for some feedback

cool, thanks for providing this server. btw, you should set another ticrate than the default ticrate (which is 0.05) .. perhaps something like 0.03 - this puts more load on the server, but for a 1on1 server it's okay and won't make gameplay stutterish due to overload (which might happen with a 8+ slot server) and this should "reduce the felt ping" for the players

Whats the difference between a ladder server and standard tdm/dom/dm server ? Does it need a mod or server side changes ?

Just a few settings to make sure its as usable as possible.

My experience is that if you join a publis 1on1 server, it takes 1 minute and someone other than the one you wait for occures..

I ment public as in "free for all ladder play" btw.. unlike i.e green than wants to be asked first.

Well the server is usable even without it and as you could read in other posts some servers are badly overused so i think its a good idea to list as many servers as possible.
And yeah as this thread has some really much stuff besides listing servers we should try to find something better. Best thing IMO would be to have a server list in the ladder itself. A way for people to submit a server.. Would not be as much clutter

I'd suggest to add the serverlist to the Rules page and also write a news that should inform people about it that the list of servers can be found there. I'll also write there that people shall contact an admin if they want their own server to be added.

thats the problem. i dont wanna be asked to use the server and easy access for ladder players, but only for them. naming it ladder server wont stop non-ladder people from joining
yep, thats the dns-name.

daedalus: true, so I suggest to have all ladder servers hidden (sv_public = 0) but have a list in this forum and at the rules page.
