  • Right i was busy with Nexuiz the last days so i did not notice the news on the ladder news page. But as i mentioned the old dropped maps are still available or will be made available. Divverent created some packages i'll ask him later if its ok to make the download url official. (As not to overuse some server or something) And it was also planned to make those maps available via the default content download url at some point.
So it would be possible to still play the old maps.

  • old maps were removed because of the lack of quality. I see no reason to use non-retail maps in the current nexuiz version.

Atm I didn't add Blue Sky to the nexuiz ladder because I think thi map is a bit "silly", rather a bit funmap-a-like with this jumppad that pushes you soo high. But I consider opening a poll whether to add the map to the pool or not. But don't bug me with nexdm07 anymore pls, it's not a retail map. Though being aware of the cool content download feature of Nexuiz I want only retail maps to be ladder maps for now.

  • Quality? The moment i use ultimate.cfg for playing that one might count :)
Actually the work on nexdm07/DSI made it look rather impressive except some places with s fighting at high quality but there are some new maps so i'll not be too hot on the topic..

  • The thing about using Blue Sky in a 1on1 match is that the mega-jump leaves you a sitting duck. If one player is on the ground with the nex and the other player hits the pad to jump, it's very easy for the player on the ground to hit the person up in the sky.

This makes this level a game of luck; the first person to get the nex (and strength) from up in the sky dominates; it's difficult to switch the balance once that happens.

  • No.. its really not.. just avoid the jump :D seriously.. this map is no worse agains a skulled player with the nex than any hoter.. you have plenty of good weaponry on ground.

Besides.. the strength is disabled in ladder games :)

But unfortunately we don't have the map's source, so we couldn't recompile it with deluxemaps and there was z-fighting all over.

  • Dropping dm07 is really a pity as i played best on this map :(
But extracting the *.map data from the *.bsp and retexturing and relighting the whole stuff is just too much boring and frustrating work.

About Blue Sky: The map was never intended to be a 1on1-map. Of course it works "somehow" for 1on1s and i think it can be really funny but i would not recommend it for the ladder.
But i also didn't recommend soylent for the ladder and now a lot of players seem to like it as a tourney map (and i really suck on it... ;) )
