i play warsow and downloaded nexuiz a few days ago and ive come to the conclusion that i like Warsow gameplay better.
now i want to know if nexuiz players feel the same way.

took a look at the screenshots - got a very clean look - nuffin for me

hmmm, i think i can make a prediction for the results of this poll...

Warsow is a quake mod which you can play without having Quake.
and its all about the movement (best movement ive ever seen).
if i were you ide download warsow and a few demos.
on the demos you can really see whats warsow all about!

Sorry, but that game SUCKS!
1. Its tooooooooo slow
2. Silly jumping sounds "ah" "uh" "ah"
3. Nice graphic but.. PIXELWAR!!!!
4. No eeling in game.. its to staticly
5. Nice resolution
6. No Laserjumps, Bunnyhops, Strafejumps, Rocketjumps, Grenadejumps
7. Boring gameplay
8. Silly models (are there only 3 diferent???)
9. ONLY 5 WEAPONS!!!!!! WHAT THE F... THATS NO GAME!!!!
10. Instea of jumping just walk, you will get slower if you jump
11. Nothing is detailed in the maps. Only walls, boring textures, boring models
12. Lightening effects? Too bright!
13. Not very much player and server
14. Its very silly, to have the enemies name in the middle of you screen with font size <60!

I think thats enought But someone who like that games would ahve fun

Strange ways in witch ya think Cervix. you can only play one game? (there is no "ill use em both" opt.. )

Enyways i d/l'd and tried warsow a while ago. dident realy stick on me, for a few resons: it feels to slow for me. the wep models are so spaced out ya have no idea what they do untill you used them some times. very small playerbase (the times i tried it was all the same ppl) all o them more or less l33t, noone talking. no fun to be a nubbi there.. i dont like cellshaders.

possitive: real good gfx preformance (stays at max fps all the time for me) some kool movement stuff. another free game =)

maybe ill give it another go in a while. better then CoR: alien arena enyways xD

I got the dreaded grey squares for a title screen, and just uninstalled it. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work properly.

**** it. Performance issues aside, at least I can get Nexuiz to start.

if you think its to slow you dont know how to hop properly.
-you dont slow down if you hop when you hold down strafe.
-you can even turn while hopping and make rampjumps and walldodge and doubledashjump.

like i said before download a demo (maybe this one)

guess its just to difficult for you.
-its not to bright... in nexuiz you cant see anything.
-you can rocketjump (in midair mode even better)
-there arent not to little weapons (i dont need weapons that are all the same).
-well in warsow you can see the textures unlike nexuiz.
-and whats with the load times in nexuiz (way to long for a not that pretty game)

ok.. youre right about the ah uh ah
but warsow doesnt suck when you know how to play it.

-no, its no fun to be a noob at warsow, i didnt have internet for over a month so i trained my movement offline.(good way to learn it fast)

if you learn the movement your instantly no noob anymore.

Hmm so far i'm not very surprised by the poll.. 8 to 1 for nexuiz Wonder why on a Nexuiz board

Well yeah i tried warsow two times but at both times the lack of servers and players did not really make it better.. yeah i know such things can change but i just like Nexuiz better. Some of the ideas in warsow are nice like the special jump key or the weak/strong ammo. But the more weapons, the more maps, nicer graphics (IF ENABLED *) of Nexuiz apeal more to me. I also like the health system in Nexuiz, the community and i guess the fact i'm in the credits

* Many many eye candy options have been disabled from release to release as people complained about Nexuiz being to resource hungry.. well tell that about d3/q4 and consider the fact Nexuiz is not backuped by millions of dollars..
I really want to know what people expect.

i think nexuiz would be great with the warsow movement.
nexuiz as it is now is just a remake of quake with to many weapons and frustrating loading times.

IMO they have nothing more then the FPS theme and 2 bits of code in common

Well you never said that only the movement is different. Nexuiz is a tad faster then q1, has double jumps, till 1.5 no bunny hopping, you can use more the just two guns for trickjumps, actually one of the two starting weapons is there for this.
The health system lets you collect as many health/armor as you want, but they will "rot" after some time so you have to keep moving and collect more. But the health also regenerates when below 100. You can make all projectiles explode when firing at them.
The dual-use weapons are in general more like in unreal then in quake.

Is it possible your computer is not too fast? Nexuiz should load quite fast but i think its compiling the shaders when loading the maps. I have no idea if those shaders could be cached or something..

mkay generally I'm no friend of unfair discussions, but imo cervix only registrated here to post that poll just to get warsow public to the nex gamers.

You just have to do your settings right . You know its hard to find right defaults for a game.. brightness and stuff is harder then others because everyone has differnet settings for their monitors. And most importanly most maps look better if they are darker, Nexuiz is still strong with eyecandy
Try those settings:
set "v_hwgamma" "1"
set "v_gamma" "2"
set "v_brightness" "0"
set "v_contrast" "1.2"

I do not think we want Nexuiz to become a better warsaw.. Nexuiz is fine as it is. Some aspects get tweaked like bunnyhopping. It will be added with 1.5.1. Its just as you said, having such things makes it hard for a newbie to join the game. Nexuiz has its tricks and useful stuff but in general its more balanced i think without too many of those tricks. Also puts more weight onto map knowledge and strategy.

I tested out warsow a while ago and wasnt impressed ,
it came across as a Cartoonish verison of Quake 3 .

Nexuiz is definaly the best Free FPS game in my view

What? Do they? Dont everyone use Pantone calibration of their monitors? Should be built-in

About loading times: I think I have the crappiest gear here, I only have a gef2mx, 256Mb Ram and a 1.6 GHz p4 CPU, but since 1.5 loading times are reduced to 3-20 secs. 20 secs are when the first map is loaded after the start of the game, or if it has big textures... So there's something wrong with your machine.

compared to warsow nexuiz has extreemly long loading times..

You should have clicked (again) on "Add option" before submitting the poll. It's very annoying. I always make the same mistake in all the PHPBB-powered forums I spa... er - post in :>

Just downloaded warsow and it is great.
For engine performance warsow OWNS Nexuiz. I get > 60 fps with realtime lights, shadows in warsow, <1 fps in Nexuiz. I'm on a laptop but seriously, <1 fps!
Secondly, warsow has reflection maps which Nexuiz doesn't seem to have. Why not?
The art style and movement is different but I can't really say Nex's is better. Some people would prefer warsow's way. I don't. Nex definitely has better character models. I like warsow's powerup icons.

Warsow, and quake 3 even, obviously has things Nex could use so intigrating features should be part of the development cycle. Isn't the whole point of opensource?

people should stfu and be happy that they dont have to buy games imo, all this whining is begining to look alot like the cs community imho, its sick and its frustrating, im out of here

It sounds like it might be worth a try if it performs well. 1.5 hasn't been very good to me
