  • Hacking tools can be made often for open source games seeing as everybody has access to the source code. Then again, the same applies for anti-hacks.

  • well, for something that's 100% modifiable, I'd say nexuiz doesn't have many cheaters at all. If you've ever played ET, that's free but closed source, and it has much more cheating going on there. I think it's the community we've built around it.

  • I've only seen someone moving that quickly one time. I've never seen it before he used it, and haven't seen it since.

    Thanks for the welcome.

  • This is just a wild guess, but could it be a hack that tricks the server into thinking he has a speed rune?

I was playing a rune game recently and remembered reading this thread.

  • I thought he was moving to quickly for the speed. Plus he fell quickly as well, i believe.

No, that would be impossible without admin access to the server, since the server never gives/receives that kind of information to/from a client.
Speed hacks usually work by altering timestamps on the network packets, so the server thinks the packet is older than it really is and adjusts the players movement for that lag. dp already tries to detect such manipulations, but obviously there's still a way around those checks.

  • I have successfully gotten a tcpdump of the speedhack in progress. I can make it available via http or email it. It's 6.1MB in size, approx 5 minutes of traffic.

Preferably HTTP in a forum PM to me. Thanks.

And... do you have proof he was speedhacking, or a demo too? Especially: was he speedhacking during the whole match or just at times? Still, the dump alone should suffice to find out what he sent, as you also named his IP (which is very useful for filtering the packets).

Edit: Oh, it is already there. DOwnloading...

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I could reproduce the issue. The bug that was used in the dump should be fixed now. Will make a new engine build soon.

    Thanks.

    Build is at http://hagger.rbi.informatik.uni-frankf ... iz/builds/

there was essential information about a nexuiz aimbot and a link to the cheatengine source
you should study it before! :o

  • there was teh sourcecode of a simple but working aimbot
(in fact was a pixel searcher )
anyway, it seems to be a continuous fight between facts and peoples that just can't accept the contrary.
I wasn't expecting that from Alientrap.
    sorry guys,
you don't know what you missed.....

  • Are you upset because your post was deleted/hidden? I don't know why it was done, but I can guess: to minimize the harm that the aimbot would cause by remaining accessible to everyone. If you want to talk with developers about exploits or aimbots or anything like that, get on IRC, use PMs or send e-mails. (And just because your post is gone does not mean devs didn't see it.)

Why is this a fight? We all know aimbots DO exist. But that's no reason to post them publicly, so every noob can use them.

So basically, you want to get rid of this stupid game by publishing an aimbot? If you want to talk about such stuff, use PMs to developers.

  • It's incredible that some people need aimbots/triggerbots for playing.
But I ask myself, what's the point of playing, then? It's what makes nexuiz fun...

  • there should be a serverside command that you supply with a player ID which forces the tuba on that selected player, forcing him to move to play the axel foley song. 8)

The selected player being a spotted aimbotter of course.

  • I know the tuba idea is funny, but my focus actually was to force him to dance with it (somehow applying a config to him that forces him to move to play a particular song). This way he literally becomes the clown on the server and gets humiliated.

ROFLMAO This NEEDS to be done now that somebody mentioned it. This would actually be a really humorous way of discouraging cheaters.

  • Haha yes, funny idea. But servers need a lot more admins (active ones!) that get to "tag" these cheaters :D
