  • Domination is a really boring gamemod!
    With a small number of Players you only can run around from one point to another. And the fraglimit is to high maybe it works good with many players(10-16) but it didnt work with a small number of players (4).
    No fighting! No team work! No fun!

    So 2 ideas to make it better:

    IDEA 1
    1 Point which should be controlled 30sec or 1min. In this time other team must get the point back. When one team control the point 30 sec or 1min the team get some points.
    Then a new round start and the control point is empty or it will be chosen a new one.

    IDEA 2
    Boths teams get a control point and 1 team must controll both points a short time. there is always the same point which should be controlled.


    What do you think? Which idea is better? or do both suck?

    I think the pointcounting is good atm, but there way too many dompoints.
    So three dompoints are better imo. Then you have to fight to get points.

  • One big problem is that Nex's dom maps aren't specially designed for the game type; they're just standard DM maps with dom points thrown in.

    Maybe some oomph could be given to the gametype if a mapper designed a map specifically with dom in mind.

  • Idea 1 sounds a lot like King of the Hill.

    Idea 2 is also interesting. If spawn points were spread out a bit more, it might be interesting for CTF maps.

  • Isn't 2 UT2k4's double domination?
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I voted for 2 though its no need to strictly have two dom points, just way less then right now.. 2 for small maps, 3 for medium sized and maybe 4 for really big maps (and ofc more players). That will make the fighting for the points more intense and harder to deceide 'go stackup' or 'go fight for the point right now'..

  • I always liked the Assault game mode. I think this could be very fun in Nexuiz. It would require custom made maps though, geared specifically for the type of game play.

    If you are not familiar with the idea, two teams take turns attacking and defending a single base. It can also be a series of objectives / checkpoints. There can be a time limit, or none.

  • I think that the pointcounting is good, but there should definitely be less dom-points on most maps, so there'll be more strategy involved and you're not only running around to get more of the 5 or more dom-points that are on the map. And some maps designed for dom would add a lot to the gamemode as well.

    I remember playing minstagib dom on aggressor with 4 people and it was really a lot of fun.

  • I think it should be like in FEAR- where in order to capture a control point, it takes some 10 seconds.
