  • In my opinion a fast paced action game like Nexuiz should have weapons that "look" more like what they are supposed to do. Not like they should be copies of weapons of other games, but you shouldn't have to stop and think "what the hell is this weapon I picked up" every time (or at least the first time) you pick it up ingame. They surely could use more of the weapon design "clichés" we're used to. Some weapons are goo as they are, but some aren't, I don't think any of the weapons are ugly, but it's just that they do not quite look like you would expect a weapon of that function to look. The Rocket Launcher for example, looks like some kind of "super weapon", like a BFG, Redeemer or something of that kind. I think it would need a more cylindrical and less bulky (if that's the right word) design.
    The shotgun and grenade launcher looks pretty much like you'd expect them too, but I think there should be more differences between the machine gun and that machine-rocket-launcher.

    I hope I'm making any sense. :)

    laser
    shotgun/SG
    Machinegun/MG/Uzi
    Mortar (the grenade launcher)
    Electro
    Crylink (the plasma shotgun)
    Nexgun/Nex (the railgun)
    Hagar (the grenade-MG)
    Rocket Launcher/RL
    the spice extend life!
    the spice expand conciousness!
    the spice is vital to space travel!

    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • One thing I'd definitely like to see is new and innovative weapons introduced into the game, rather than simply refining the old ones in both looks and balance from release to release. I heard there was an issue with the engine not supporting more than nine weapons. I hope that issue is fixed soon so some modders or developers can start getting creative with this particular cornerstone of the game.

    I'd like to see at least one more semi-powerful hit-scan weapon. Something that maybe does half of the Nex damage.

  • Could replace the laser - and when aimed down, it would work as jetpack.

    ... until I fired a weapon, I had no clue wtf it was supposed to do or it did something different... thats pretty much for all except the rocket launcher... yeah, weapons are seriously off... I can critisize and suggest stuff for all them weaps...

  • Well, I am no 3D modeller, otherwise I think I would have tried to make some proposals of my own.

    I think the weapons should be based on current weapons (though I suppose one should choose the most futuristic looking), which you then remove things that 'identifies' it as a particular model or brand, and changing details to make it more futuristic looking, while retaining the basic design. I would expect a machine gun that is capable of firing single precision shots to have a long barrel, or perhaps some kind of scope, like the M16 or so, maybe the rocket launcher should have some kind of RPG design and so on. As for the weapons that use futuristic projectiles you should think of what the weapon is firing, how, and how the gun should look to be able to fire that stuff most efficiently.

  • I think that the shotgun, the MG (especially), and the RL need a makeover. The crylink too probably (not a bad design, it just looks poor ingame).

  • the shotgun is fine if you look at it from its wrong end; it looks kick-ass. But when YOU hold it, it looks like a multi-colored baton, which is ridiculous. It lacks vertical depth from the holder's perspective and feels like you're holding a wand.

    Again, it looks fine if you're looking from the wrong end. Change the "held" version.

  • I know this is about weapon looks, not function, of weapons, but I was thinking (I saw "lightning gun" somewhere and thought: Why isn't there a taser?

    I'm not suggesting the melee weapon that you poke people with to stun them, I mean a gun that shoots a continuous stream of electricity at a target and sucks their health (and only health-it wouldn't be blocked by armor anyway) at an exponential rate. There are some games with this already, including

    Tribes (1,2,3): ELF (ElectroMagnetic Field) projector, it only sucks jetpack energy, but has the same basic concept.

    Metroid Prime Hunters: Shock coil, does damage at exponential rate, and leeches to give energy to the user.

    If this was implemented, the range would have to be around 15 feet (relative to game), and it should have mild homing capabilities (ie: if you're shooting a stream at them and the move slightly off your crosshair, you keep damaging them within a vicinity of your aim)

    Also, who really uses the crylink? If we really can only have nine weapons, please overwrite this one for a better one (see above :wink: )

  • lol. I love the hairdryer.

    After a while, I think the weapons get kinda old. There's not too many weapons, and the designs look pretty fake. If anything in the game looks nice and detailed, it should be the gun. (It's in the foreground, and is right in front of your eyes)

    All of the weapons should be redesigned for future versions. The function/name and stats can all stay the same, but I think the actual designs should be changed. (More weapons, maybe?)
