I try to balance uneven teams by switching if I am a high scorer. If I am doing bad, I ask others to switch. Usually, no one pays attention to my requests even if the score is 200 to 20. I know it is easy to overlook the unbalance. I've done that myself. I get angry, though, when I ask several times and get no response or told that I'm whining.

Anyway, I just wanted a reality check. Please take this poll so we can see if there is a consensus about this. If we agree, then let's all make an effort to balance teams better.

I always try to switch to the losing team. I much prefer a challenge to an easy win. You learn a lot more when you have to work hard, and it's much more satisfying.

There are times when it's just better to lose quickly then to prolong the inevitable loss. I have been on teams where there is one or two good players with a bunch of "Gun Turrets" Inexperienced players against a team where every one is good or great. There is no hope for Team Gun Turret!!!!

Anyways, maybe if there was a way to reshuffle teams. That way If you see that the teams are way out of balance you could vote for a reshuffle.

Yes Definately!, If your on a Team that's going to get the living snot kicked out of them. Just switch to the other team.

I try to be most times in the weaker team at the start, as i love the challenge there. But I dont think to much about it after 3-4 rounds of playing. Seriously, sometimes you got bad luck with the team, sometimes good luck. If the teams are to unbalanced, the match is over after 3-4minutes. I think the serverwarning "someone should switch team" very good as it is. If people dont recognize or react to it, theres not much to do about it, except doing it yourself.

i usualy go with whatever the autobalance thinks is right, unless the team setup is similar to last game and that was a slaugther, if so I try to join the team i think would make the best balance for me to join on map start. imo switching in the middel of a game just messes things up. and yeh, big score diff dont nessesarely mean unbalanced teams. Gettin my ass kicked is something i somewhat look forward to, since its as thise times you really have to sharpen up and work on your game. dont get me wrong, i dont like to loose or dislike winning, but above all i like to get better.

I think autobalance only considers numbers, not points or skill level. A much smarter autobalance might be of more use.

No clue what "charascter" is - rasterized character? sponge bob square pants? - but that's what I voted for. Some might think my choice odd since I'm against auto-balance. But I'm also firmly opposed to caring about personal high score or even team score for the team I'm on at match's end. If my score's 5 times higher than everyone else's, I'm going to switch teams, cap some flags to even it up, switch again, rinse, repeat, until either another skilled player joins or the match ends. But by doing so I basically ensure I'll have few if any personal points and may be on the losing team at the end, unless I cap the last flag cuz I wasn't paying attention.

Well, I probably could have worded the poll options better. What I was attempting to find out is whether the community thinks it is good to be aware of unbalanced teams and switch to even it out.

Obviously, if you are willing to switch, you don't mind losing, since all your points go to the highest scorer of your old team. So it puts you in the position of trying a come from behind victory. Even if you lose, I think it is more fun than an easy win.

I can't change the wording now, but if I could I would alter them like this:

I don't want anyone to switch teams. I don't care as long as I am winning.
I don't want anyone to switch teams. I don't mind losing badly. It builds character.

I haven't kept very good track, but whenever the notice pops up, I hit F5 and autoswitch.

I just want a lot of balanced carnage. When one team or the other is too powerful, it makes the game boring.

I do prefer to win, however.

Most of the time I will switch, unless I really want to get the map over with.

I usually switch to whichever team is the underdog, if the autobalance lets me. I've been on great teams and I've been on teams with lots of "gun turrets" and been absolutely massacred. Its no fun if there isnt any challenge.

There probably should be an option to vote to reshuffle the teams.

I only like unbalanced teams when the skill level is balanced, as in a few good players VS masses of new players. To me this seems fair, even if it is Me Vs. All on some of the lower-skill servers. (hehe) At some times skill is a better equalizer, whereas sometimes numbers are beneficial - it all really depends on the match that is being played.

More disgusting are those typerulers with bad manners who offend player cuz there new or bad.

I've played a few times over the past couple of days against people who seem to delight in shit-talking saying 'pwnded' and other witless, moronic nonsense.

Coming out with it once in a while is OK. It's also OK if it's done in a jokey way or is meant to be amusing but these idiots seem to want to be nasty and aggressive.

It's annoying being at the top of a server and everyone blaming you for unbalancing the teams when if you changed the teams, it would unbalance it the other way. It takes players lower down to make the difference. Before I've been leading an unbalanced TDM game where everyone blamed me for making it unbalanced so I kept swapping back and forwards mid game between the teams until I'd got the other team back up into the lead before switching again.

I really only enjoy matches that are close in score and skill. If I'm on a team that is winning 200 - 30, I usually don't enjoy it.

The biggest problem with team balancing is when the teams have an equal number of players but the players' skills are unbalanced. When this happens, I can't just switch teams because one team will end up with 2 more players than the other team. Instead, I will either try to play through to get the map to end quickly or I'll just F3 and wait for the next game in hopes that the teams will be balanced.

This problem with team balancing has been discussed numerous times in IRC and on the forums. The conclusion that keeps cropping up is to have the server decide teams based on the scores in the last match or two. That's not a perfect solution, but it's at least a improvement over creating teams at random.
