  • hi , i just want to ask if you guys are aware of gaining speed and air time when you , say laser jump off a jump pad , then look up slowly (takes time to get look up speed right) , i have noticed and practised this and have improved jumps and reaching points of distance , ive had the speed indicator on and can see a gain , i seem to get roughly 3 m/s.
also same jump but do a 360 spin off it and when you get the turn right this results in more height!

mentalrespaced (yes that map) is perfect for showing/trying this

its quite amazing to see it , as your view tends to err , look unusuall

just to point out too that u dont need to go off a pad for the first one

    try it out!!

im at aussienexers ctf1 if you guys want to see it

    regards

    alias +wjumpE "impulse 1; cl_pitchspeed 1000; +lookdown"
    alias -wjumpE "+attack; +jump; wait;wait;wait;wait;wait; wait; wait; wait; wait;wait; -jump; -attack; wait; -lookdown; force_centerview; cl_pitchspeed 150"
    bind SPACE +wjumpE

and I use SPACE to do the laser jump. ymmv

i know this is an old thread, but how would one implement one of these types of bindings? in the console? I want to do some tweaking to my binds and experiment with different things.

    help appreciated!
    Code: Select all
"I hope I could like a ninja. Because I know that ninja is a brave hero!"

    If you are on windows:
    • Navigate to the 'Nexuiz' directory.
    • Open the 'data' folder.
    If you are on mac:
    • Open Finder
    • command-shift-g and then type in '~/.nexuiz/data/
Now you are in your data directory. Create a file called 'autoexec.cfg'. In this file you put your various alias's:
    Code: Select all
    #example autoexec
    #Laser Jump
    alias +wjumpE "impulse 1; cl_pitchspeed 1000; +lookdown"
    alias -wjumpE "+attack; +jump; wait;wait;wait;wait;wait; wait; wait; wait; wait;wait; -jump;  -attack; wait; -lookdown; force_centerview; cl_pitchspeed 150"
    #Name Changes
    alias fragit "name ^1frag^2it
    alias fragit2 "name ^x808frag^x009it

Close that. Now open the file called 'config.cfg', in the same directory. Now you can edit which key you want to laser jump with, for example:
    Code: Select all
    bind ESCAPE "togglemenu"
    bind SPACE "+wjumpE; -wjumpE"
    bind APOSTROPHE "say_team Roaming @ %l (%h,%a)"

But to be honest, making a laser jumping alias is pretty soft, and IMO just reduces the effectiveness of a Laser Jump. A laser jump can be used for so much more than just straight up and down, and if you don't practice it, you'll never have that advantage.
