  • I have a geforce 6600gt and Nexuiz runs quite fine on it. But i use linux.. think ntweak is only available for windows. Why do you need to choose a profile for Nexuiz? If it does not run fast enough just lower some settings in Nexuiz, i wrote several times here in the forum about 'my' settings..

  • Hello. I have a GT.

I'm suffering from severe framerate issues. I have none of this when I play Doom 3 or Far Cry or Tribes Vengeance at Medium settings. In this game I set all to low yet I can't play the game for more than 15 minutes without getting a headache.

I use Windows XP and not Linux.

Psychiccyberfreak invited me into this forum.

    Any ideas?

  • Well first of all welcome to Nexuiz and the forum! We'll release a new version tomorrow that has HUGE improvements in rendering speed, but maybe you can comeup with some numbers and facts so we can judge your performance?
First of all your settings are interesting.. default? changed some? is it a 6600gt or a normal one? Which drivers are you using? And well ofcourse what FPS do you get. Best try a timedemo. Open the nexuiz-ingame-console with shift-escape and enter tdem demo1 you can find the resulst afterwards in the console.

  • Thanks for the welcome.

It's a 6600 GT as I have stated. It's on a derelict mobo unfortunately, a P4VP-MX. My CPU is a 2.4GHz Pentium 4. Mismatched specs aside, I can run other games fine.

Good job on the new version!! I can see clearly the visual improvements. Framerates have improved too.

But framerates is not my issue; in the previous version, I can run it on the lowest setting with a rate that fall in the 60-100+ range. The game stutters I do not know why. It's not my connection either as when I played "instant action" with bots, the stuttering is still there. I still can play the game for about half an hour before my eyes complain.

With this recent version, the stuttering has reduced significantly but it's still there.

I will make that timedemo and some screenshots with Fraps when office work allows me to.

Thanks for the help; I like forums who support users. Keep up the good job! This is the best-looking freeware I have played and seen so far.

  • I have the 'stuttering' problem as well under Windows Vista. Strangely enough it's non-existent when I run the game under Linux (Fedora 7, nVidia driver 97.55).

    Issue with OpenGL perhaps?

  • Can you define stuttering a bit more? Is it like your input is not accpected at once? In that case maybe trying nexuiz.exe vs nexuiz-sdl.exe vs nexuz-dinput.bat (or the other way round) can help. On Linux its nexuiz-linux-glx.sh vs nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh. Or you can try and test if gl_finish 1 in the console helps if its input problems.

I run Nexuiz in linux on a 6600gt and have no problems at all so far and also did not have had problems a year back on my ait9800pro on windows.

  • Stuttering = movement seems to stutter, as if players only moved once a second. As written above, for me it is only an issue under Windows, not at all under Linux - which has me baffled.

  • Well it could be the result of input problems.. needs some testing. Other then that.. did you reuse your config from 2.2.3? That should work but its easy to try the defaults by just renaming or removing config.cfg..
An other issue is: Have you extracted 2.3 into a directory of its own? Overwriting old Nexuiz CAN lead to problems.

  • Stuttering happens when there is insufficient RAM and your system "dips" into your HDD for additional data. The game then temporarily suffers in framerates (even though your pc can put out more than decent frames)

I know RAM is not the case here but it looks like it stutters. The other exes? So I'll click on the "nexuiz-sdl.exe" instead of "nezuiz.exe"? Okay I will try that.

No (if am the one you asked) I did not overwrite my previous version, I took it out, cleaned my registry and then put Nexuiz 2.3 in C:/program files/nexuiz.

Also, it's not the input as when I just run and don't fire any weapons, the stuttering is there always. Slight, but noticeable.

  • A VERY delayed reply (sorry; bz. Work is nuts):

Thanks Esteel, applied your gl_finish 1 and it improved things. However I disabled "movement prediction" and things soared from there. I replied in full in this thread:

    Thanks man! Great game! :D
