Do we have a bench, for example a scene in a pk3, to test our settings ?

If you can get decent FPS on that, you are fine.



Seriously though, there is no built in benchmark afaik.

You can do a timedemo:

timedemo demos/demo1

for instance.

This however does not count as a benchmark on your own as it just uses the settings you are running with. Everyone would need the same settings for a benchmark. A mod could be put together to do this.

That's a good idea, actually. I think I'll throw together a benchmark map we can use with some rotating geometry, realtime lights, parallax mapping, etc.
