  • Intel dual core 2.66ghz
    3.3gb ram (4gb in reality)
    asus radeon hd 4850

How far can I push the graphics with this? (While still having an acceptable fps, that is)

  • Better try applying various settings yourself.

  • I'd say set everything to full, play a few matches, then if its too slow tone it down.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Fairly sure you can play it on ultimate.cfg, but you should just play with it yourself.

  • I hope the HD4850 will do its job better than the HD46xx. Nexuiz runs almost exactly at the same speed on both the HD4650 and the HD4670. Generally the HD4670 gives about 40% better performance than the 4650.

If you have crashes while changing the video settings or quitting: install the Catalyst 8.8

edit: of course I have to say, all the stronger Radeons run Nexuiz on high settings fine, however, if you want to play on ultimate settings, it's more up to the CPU. You may overclock your C2Duo in that manner.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone. Yeah, well, in windows I have a really slow internet connection (downloading things from regular bandwidth servers in like 100kbps top, while in linux I download with 1-1.5mbps..) and I just wanted to know while I was downloading it, what to expect.

Anyway, thanks everyone. Turns out I get pretty good fps (70-80) with maxed out settings, plus I'll both overclock and throw in another HD4850 in a few weeks or so.

  • What Linux drivers are you using? ATi's drivers are patchier than nVIDIA's in general and it seems a bit hit and miss with some cards which driver to use. Any experience you have with this may help other players with this graphics card.

  • Well changing the resolution in nexuiz makes it crash. So no gaming in linux. :)

  • The Nexuiz SVN version btw contains a workaround for ATi graphics cards, which solves the problem with the crash when changing the video settings.
