  • I've been trying to find some settings that maintain my FPS at my vsync (75FPS) but each time i try to enable another feature my fps drops under the 75 fps ... any advise on how to find better settings that don't cause my fps to drop under 75 ? (currently have parcticles, enableing bloom or dlights drop my fps (using Fullscreen AntiAliasing (2X) at 1280x1024 )

  • As you are using vsync, do you also have tripple buffering activated in your drivers options?? I have about the same setup and i just use exec low.cfg;vid_restart in the console. But that one does disable almost everything so i'm not sure if you want to do this too :)
But i also do not use FSAA as Nexuiz is too fast to notice that effect..

  • Where do i enable tripple buffering ? (in case it's not on) in linux please ? And no my fps are fine ... I just seek what I can enable more without dropping my fps under the 75 ..
About the FSAA, that's an idea let me try...

Nvidia README Appendix D wrote:Option "TripleBuffer" "boolean"

Enable or disable the use of triple buffering. If this option is enabled, OpenGL windows that sync to vblank and are double-buffered will be given a third buffer. This decreases the time an application stalls while waiting for vblank events, but increases latency slightly (delay between user input and displayed result).

  • Another question along these lines: Bumpmapping seems to aprear when you enable OpenGL 2.0, is there a way to turn this of , or is the bumpmap shader comes at zero fps cost ?

Well the reason for this is that realtime shadows are a very advanced feature.. At least i do not know a trick to make them faster. However there are realtime world lights and shadows and effect realtime lights and shadows. I have not yet tested if only one of them are much faster then both..

Its late ;) but i think you can turn them off with
    set r_shadow_bumpscale_basetexture 0

  • Hmm i'll try that, but last time i tried that had no effect on the fps and thus it wasn't really turned off ... I wish to turn it of to gain FPS :) (and thus maybe yust allowing me to run with shadows on :D)
