Level 11 unplayable in single player campaign?

Tips on how to tweak Nexuiz for the best performance

  • Hi All,

New Nexuiz User here. I'm playing through the single player campaign and have run into a problem at Level 11.

Through level 10, the game has performed flawlessly. It's been very quick, fluid, and easy to control. Turning on the FPS meter, I seem to get between 60 and 80 fps on my aging system.

When I try to play level 11 though, the FPS drops to about 2 - 4 fps, which is obviously completely unplayable. It's so bad in fact, that it's hard to even get the system to respond enough to recognized the <ESC> press to back out of the level.

If we need to go into hardware details and current software settings, I can do that. Before we do though, is there anything "different" about level 11 that could cause such a horrible degradation in performance?

    Thanks for any input.

  • Strength is quite a system intensive map. I have found that there are certain sections of it which can be very bad with Deluxe mapping enabled. Have you got any forms of bump mapping enabled? Try disabling them.

  • Maybe you can try to play this Level with Low settings. It still looks nice too!

  • Thanks guys. It seems that I just had to tone things down some to make level 11 playable. I was just surprised to see my frame rate drop from the 60-80 of previous levels to a about 2 on level 11 with the same settings...

Anyway, I've toned things down a bit and now I'm getting about 120 fps on level 11.
