  • hey

on one of my newer maps i ran into an issue where i was unable to achieve random teleport destinations by using multiple identically named misc_teleporter_dest entities.

forest told me to ask div0 to fix this. are you out there?

another good and easy improvement would be dynamic server playerlimit set in the mapconfig in the pk3 file. the new map i am working on will need a lot more players than some of the smaller ones.

one last request. can you make an adjustment to the way pk3 files are parsed so that priority ALWAYS goes to the pk3 file that the currently playing map was loaded from? that would be helpful in very many ways.

    thanks

    Hi.

Allthough i understand and apprechiate some of your reuests this one seem a tad annoing for those wo get kickeed by the server when map changes into a smaller one.

My suggestion would be to finish implementing differenziation between spectators and players and make it possible to have a certain number of players and another (higher) number of total connected users.

That wouldn't really make sense imho, since spectators generate as much traffic as players, so the overall number of clients a server can take wouldn't change, so why have spectator-only slots? I guess ppl that are force to spectate are equally annoyed as players that are kicked uppon mapchange.

  • Isn't there some feature that only chooses maps matching a min,max player number? Some files named like the .mapcfg file but with an other extension.. just can't remember the exact one..
Uhm no. a file maps/MAPNAME.sizes maybe map authors should ship such a file.

  • I also think that having a dynamic number of max players based on the maps would be a bad idea... getting kicked after some games would just be annoying, and it would also be difficult to get people from the start of the match on the bigger maps since they would have to try to connect at just the right time.

That's correct. The minimum number is taken from the first line in this file, the maximum number from the second.
You can put the file (e.g. dm_skyway.sizes) right into the "maps" folder, so you don't have to mess around with the pk3 files.
