  • I think it would be pretty cool if we could have access to certain variables in the map file. That is to say, pass things such as 'blue_team_score' and 'red_team_score' to the compiled .bsp and allows the enivonnment to respond to the gameplay.

An example would be a scored board that displays the output of said variables or lights changing color based on who's winning.

I'm not sure what the plausibility of this actually happening is as I don't know the first thing about ~the other side~ of mapping. But if this were possible I'd be all :D  :o 8)

I don't really get want you want... Putting the score in variables at compile time would be useless, so i don't think that what you're suggesting.

Changing lights is only possible with realtime lights since all other lights are rendered at compile time, so it would be rather useless since hardly anyone is using rtlights when playing online...

I think he means like having dynamic textures based on variables, e.g. a realtime scoreboard on a surface. Or something similar, just something that changes based on which team is in the lead or other factors that the mapper could decide on.

    This is correct.

The lights would have to be real time too I guess :)

  • Good luck with that. Divverent refuses all requests. Nex needs to be forked or get more programming help.

  • Then fork it. I have no idea how to do that feature, so I cannot implement it. That's something someone who is good at OpenGL would have to do. Just shut up.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
