  • I was thinking it might be a good idea to make a smaller release intended for dedicated servers.
Without the textures and sounds, I'm guessing the download size would be much smaller, which would facilitate the creation of more servers.

  • I've just had a poke at this and got to under 90Mb with dedicated servers for all platforms. Are the OSX .app directories required? If not there's another 5Mb.

  • I think that's an excellent idea.

  • mkzelda was working on this. He has a few gametype versions... really lightweight. I'm not sure of the current status.

  • Nah, Dave was talking about a light dedicated server.

It indeed doesn't need textures to work... The bsp, the shaders???, the config files, that's enough. Isn't it?

  • I had done this before with 2.3. I made a common data pack and then individual packs for 1v1 mappool, 2v2, 3v3, nexrun and more. I put this project on the back burner until 2.4 was released but I got sidetracked with all the other things like mapinfos, md5sums, q3 entities and such. I was also waiting 2.4.1 so I wouldnt have to deal with the changes immediately after fixing the pack again. I know that with 2.3 I had it around ~30mb for the core plus 1v1,2v2,3v3 ladder mappool.

  • Any updates on this? I think I'd like it very much -- though I may take a stab at putting one together myself.
