  • Try my newest soundpack guys: (Tenshihan v3.6.2.pk3)

I made what I believe to be the PERFECT armor1 now.

Also - I put back in the "Flag cap voice" for you guys. ;)

    Have a good night!

  • https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.p ... tid=563410

Can you add this (simply a separate, negative, weird sound that's as short as the normal hit sound, but for typekills)?

And maybe a separate one for shooting a team mate?

I'd then add the code to support them.

Another thing... we could use "impressive" and "head shot" announcer sounds for the minstanex (ONLY played in non-minsta games, when the mapper placed a minstanex)... can you make these too?

    Thanks
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Yes, I will work on some "TypeKill" sounds for you.
I thought it would be funny if it was a voice saying; "I'm TYPING, you moron!" But if you need it really short - then ok. ;)
(Perhaps if someone repeatedly shoots typekillers (3x+), you could make a sign appear over their heads saying "TYPE-KILLER"?)

However, I was wondering; Instead of it being a manual option for the player to have to stop what they're doing - in order to tell a team-mate to stop shooting them, perhaps you could instead make that a default trigger when they get hit by a team-mate? (Eg: If you shoot a TeamMate - you hear: "SAME TEAM - RETARD!") Without the player having to hit any extra buttons, but rather, the player-model 'trigger' itself would just do it for you. What do you think?

Yes, ...I've already made some recordings saying: "Head-Shot", "That Was Awesome", and "Air-Shot". (I was thinking one of them could possibly replace "Electro-Bitch")

I will put all of these sound-tests in the folder marked: "FOR_DEVELOPMENT_TEAM" and marked as: "October15-Tests" for you.

    Cheers,

    ~Tenshihan

PS: I've also included the missing 'Alarm' sound for KeyHunt, ...it's in my latest soundpack version: "Tenshihan-V3.6.3.pk3" ...Let me know what you think of it.

I'm also working on finishing these this week:

    sound/player/Marine/Coms/FreeLance1.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Coms/FreeLance2.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Player/Taunt1.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Player/Death1.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Player/Death2.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Player/Death3.wav
    sound/player/Marine/Player/Drown.wav

They should all be ready for version "Tenshihan-V3.6.4.pk3" when it's finished.

Oh, and BTW, the latest SVN has the most incredible visuals I've EVER seen for Nexuiz (and any other game). The Weapon-Effects are spectacular, and the smoke-effects look bloody REAL! ...Bravo!
Please tell whichever Development team-mate(s) who are responsible for that - that they have my highest praise. It seriously improves the look of the game by 100%.

  • I just tried the current sound pack and somehow the new small armor sounds aren't quite the way I imagined them to be. Oddly, I like those even better than what I had in mind. :D

As far as I am concerned, all of those sounds are really just plain great. Thank you!
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

Finally some positive feedback about the small armor! THANK YOU!!! (So far, it's been the hardest sound to make - everyone seemed to hate all my previous work on it.) I've been going nuts trying to get that damn armor1 shard, right, ....so thank you very much, 'halogene'. I really needed to hear that, more than you know. :)

Well now, that's ALL I needed to hear! (From the main man himself no less!) Thank you very much Div! Now I can finally get some emotional 'rest' on this subject. *Whew*
Now I can get back to work on the Player-sounds!

  • ...which reminds me...

Esteel greatfully helped me out and gave me some examples of how to code the Player-Model-SOUNDS, ...and I really hoped that by looking at them, I would be able to copy the method and make all the codes for each player accordingly.

However, now for the hard part that I recently admitted to (but still really find hard to talk about)...

    ...My Dyslexia.

It's very real and it's taken it's toll on my life, ...but I really want to get these codes done!

Unfortunately - looking at all that code really screws my head up. I get very confused when I see all those words jumbled together and I can't make any sense of it. (It's hard enough reading normal English, and it takes me far longer to write these notes than I'd like to admit.)

Please understand that I'm far from lazy - and I'm NOT trying to 'get out of this', but rather, I really want to finish this part of the project (Player-sounds) and therefore i'm asking for help from anyone who can PLEASE do the coding part for me.

I really, sincerely, desperately need help with this aspect. Otherwise I't's just never going to get finished, and that sucks, because most of the sounds are done for them, but can't be heard because the codes aren't there.

Please, ...someone help me get this done.

  • I have no idea what you mean.

What code is needed for extra sounds? Most of them are already variable by player model and just need a .sounds file. Don't you already provide such files?

If it is just voice messages - tell me their names and I'll do it.

    Or what do you need?
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

Sorry, I guess I should have used examples like; "carni.zym.sounds" and "marine.zym.sounds" ...esteel did those two for me, but the other player-models ".zym.sounds" files haven't been done (To my knowledge).

Those other player-models ".zym.sounds" files are what I need finished so we can hear each player-model sound-fx, such as pain, death, falling, drowning, etc.

As you know, I made generic sounds for the 'Beasts' (Carni / Wolf / Voodoo-Demon)
And also made custom sounds for the 'Soldiers' and 'Marines'. Unfortunately - finding any help to do the female-voices so far has been a loss.

But in the meantime, yes please Div, ...go into my soundpack "Tenshihan-V3.6.3.pk3\sound\player" and there you will see the files I made for you to implement. (You will note that currently I have the folder "Tenshihan-V3.6.3.pk3\sound\player\torus" in there along with it's 'default.sounds' file - because I couldn't change the codes myself to use the actual folders I wanted. (Beasts / Marine / Soldier)

Please modify everything as you need it to be, and then if you could send me back your modified .PK3 file (with dummy-empty-files if necessary) to my email. Then I can see how your changes will let me know what to record for my future releases.

  • I've been working since yesterday (all day and all night last night) on NEW sounds for the player models, including the Reptilian and Voodoo-Demon.

I'm trying very hard to keep to a certain structure of standards - making it easy to navigate through the sound-folders for coders such as yourself to have a template to go by.

Right now I have each Player-model as having two folders within their respective Main folder.

As an example, inside the 'Marine' folder, there are two sub-folders called: 'COMS' (All communications involving spoken words to team-mates and taunts to other players) ...and 'PLAYER' - which are all the sound-fx such as Pain, Death, Drowning, etc.

Sorry for doing this right now - especially when you JUST offered to help - but you see, that also helped inspire me to redo it all BETTER.

  • Well... tell me when your structure is done, I'll make the .sounds files then. When you do adhere to such a structure, making these files will be very easy - you'd just use search/replace to change the sounds files to match other models.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

That's great - thank you. I will let you know when they are completely finished. They should be fully done by the end of the weekend. ;)

EDIT: Due to suddenly having some new help from a girl, i'm now working on the female-player sounds, ...so there will be a neccesary delay until these new voices are finished.

  • I'm taking my time on this next release, ...no more bi-weekly minor changes. From now on, only professional-level sound will be released by me.

I've been working STEADILY for the past two weeks on improving everything from weapon-sound-levels (The new rocket-FLY sound is amazing), also new Lava & Slime sounds, and the Player-sounds are turning out great. (Yes, I even now have the help of a girl who is doing the female voices!)

Very soon, I will also be taking on the job of re-doing the sounds for the Platforms, Elevators, Ambient Environment - etc.

Also, I WILL be making MASSIVE sound-banks for mappers to use, including any custom work you guys need. So please don't hesitate to ask, as I will put your personal requests on TOP my list of things to do - and will let you know ASAP when they're ready.

As far as I'm concerned, many of the sounds thus far, have unfortunately limited the creativity that mappers can run with - because support wasn't there to match any concepts outside of existing parameters.

To myself and many others of our Nexuiz-family here; Nexuiz is NOT a ONE-THEME game, it's all about creative diversity - and therefore the freedom to make any environment you want. So, as for limited sounds? ...I aim to change that - so you guys will be free to have Professional-quality sounds at your disposal.

ALL my sounds are made specifically for Nexuiz (Under the General Public Licence).

I hope you're all doing well,

    Cheers,

  • Cool man, I'm glad to see you're getting so into this. It's nice of you to give back so fruitfully. Nice sounds will most certainly help the in-game environments grow.

If you're looking for a sweet map to spice up with sound, I suggest you check out mikeeusa's latest map, slimepipesmallctf6.pk3. This is likely his most Nexuiz style map, with multiple pathways, interesting devices (you can flood the reservoir with slime!) and a very pleasing visual environment. His maps are also under the GPL.

P.S. I still find your small armor sound a little to TINK and not enough CRUNCH. Think pieces clicking into a suit of some sort.

  • And another request. When the next version of your sound pack is out, can I already add it to svn, so everyone using svn can already hear all the sounds, or do you prefer your pack to be separate until it is complete?

Yes, please DO include my sounds, Div! :)

I actually thought the last SVN-build was going to have them (since you put my name in the credits), so I felt quite guilty having my name there, but with no sounds included. I didn't realize you were waiting for my permission, ..sorry about that.

Just so you know for future reference, whatever sounds I make for Nexuiz are for you to use. :)

Thanks for the heads-up about this new map by 'mikeusa', I will download it now and see these cool features!

I'll keep working on the small armor, too. (Most likely - I will release several, small .pk3 files with JUST armor variations for you to test out.)

  • Hi Div, did you get my PM yet?

I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with the "fricka.zym.sounds" code. I still can't get her sounds to trigger, ...can you please look into this for me?

    I wanted to ask a favour about the CryLink;
Can you make the fire-flash to be also purple - instead of yellow?

Also, I wanted to also make a secondary-fire sound for the Crylink. (AND it needs a hit-sound for normal surfaces.) So you can you fix it so I can make those two supporting sounds?

Lastly the "Electro-Fly" sound doesn't seem to work, ...is this intentional, or was it because the old sound just sucked? I'd like to try fixing that for you as well.

    Cheers!
