  • You could build up defenses... or kill others with blasting heavy crates to/on them... Or make walls that actually fall apart on some places of maps... not all walls, but some of them.
    etc. etc. etc.

  • Debris around maps, yes. Generally more map-interactivity. Swinging light fixtures, maybe swings in general o_O.

I doubt it will be fast enough to enable things like destructible environments (walls that are made out of several pieces, can be broken apart).

    But yes pl0x :D

  • As I said, this won't die.
    Thanks tZork.

One question: is it possible to interact twig from inside darkplaces?

  • I would like to have crouching animations, or up/down weapon movements before ragdolls :)

  • When pondering the code side of life, one must eventually ask, Just how versatile is twig? Could the following be implemented with twig?

Picking up heavy objects to hurl at your opponents like a proper Glasgow pub fight?
    Move-and-stack puzzles like HL?
Large destructibles? (small rubble and whatnot can be done with the current particle systems)
Building simple machines? For example, could a player stand on one end of a pivoted beam and be launched by a heavy object falling on the other end?

  • Yeah, but this will be a propah catapult with physics and stuff. You'll actually have to get your trajectory right else you'll swim in lava.

  • Late reply but wanted to add a +1 for getting this in core. It looks awesome, I think it would be a big shame not to. I sense physical models, ragdoll physics and most of all vehicles coming to Nexuiz :D Any new plans on adding it since the last discussion here?

  • Add it ... especially the part when stuff pop up out of the water looks very nice and realistic. Could be interesting for racemaps to have some platforms on the water, which can be moved with weapons? :D

  • Nice stuff, I think it should be added.
I remember when played some strategy game that shall remain nameless and loved to shoot at troops with artillery and see how they flew like a ragdoll, nice memories.

  • Yes, definitely.

Eventually, this could lead to non-bipedal and non-legged characters that move correctly over ground surfaces, and vehicles or vehicle-like-characters.

Yay! Yeah this would be cool for debris and imagine, those swingin' lamps in Desert Factory. mm eye candy. Having lights starts to swinging when rockets pass by or of course hit. weapons after frag could be blown away, that should teach a few noobs to pick up a gun if they see one. yes and small rubberducks passing idle by lasers and explosions. Heh and all the other cool stuff, well further down the line that is. Wow.

  • Rigs of Rods was released as open source a few months ago:

    http://rigsofrods.blogspot.com/

I wonder if some of its code could be adapted without too much work to help further development of Twig, or at least provide some insight/inspiration? Unless maybe Twig is closer to the Bullet physics engine and other such more conventional physics engines.
