  • Long timeout-mine would be cool I think aswell. On my server, I'm sure I'd set it to very long :P

Yeah, in Quake Live the proxy mine lifetime is very long too and its huge fun :P (maybe its infinitive, no idea)
It wouldnt be problem on open-maps in Nexuiz either i think, but if closed maps get spammed with it... Maybe with high ammo usage it would work, like 5 rocket ammo for 1 mine.

  • I think for such a mine, the timeout should depend on how close the mine is to other mines. The farther apart, the longer the timeout can be.

This would reduce spam but keep them useful. A single mine could then easily have a timeout of a minute, and would tell you (via the hit sound) when an enemy triggered it (could maybe us a different from the default hit sound). But you can also use it to block a hallway, but only for ten seconds then.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

    Variable timing, good idea :D.
In the code how could this be implemented?
I noticed that with projectiles you create one and add functions to it.

Sounds great. Is there a way to create some visual indicator that shows the lifetime of the mine? Like a LED upon it that goes from green to red as the timer gets closer to zero. Or the beep sound that it gives out gets constantly to higher frequency. Or both? :D

Closing the TAG/Hagar question: I just merged the code of these 2 weapons into hagar. Yeah, I know and dont mind that it wont get into the game (as divVerent said), I just created it for those who are interested how I imagined this stuff, and would like to have some fun with it :)

How to use it: just copy it to Nexuiz/data and create a server. (I only tested it with beta)

    Anyway, proxy mines FTW :P

If it's a sound then peeps will realize the mine is there, better it be silent... and then deadly.

  • I think it should use some sort of animation to show that it's going to explode soon. People will then learn that placing them close together is bad.

tZork: your features sound great, could you make mutators of them? (xplode ammo mutator, mine mutator.) That way servers who like those features could enable them. Choice is good.
