  • capturing video is great, but AVI gets really annoying, especially on a mac..the only way to play it back is by installing extra codecs for QuickTime, and even then its jumpy and not very nice to watch without converting..any possibility of switching to a more universal capture format? like MOV? anyone could play that back in QuickTime with no problem, and quicktime runs on mac and windows..linux users have some way to play it back id imagine, what with it being a popular format and all...

  • What?

Avi is not a format but a container. Get proper codecs to play what's inside (actually h264 decoder). Mov files are also containers and furthermore they use proprietary codecs like sorenson. Some of these are even unplayable in mplayer because of re problems. Finally, quicktime is not free software and can't be used with nexuiz.

  • You can always use OGV (in 2.5 it's set by default). VLC plays it back fine, and Firefox 3.1 can play it too.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Not necessarily. Depends on what encoder you use.
