  • The waypoint system in nexuiz is really useful. However, the bug in which "help me" does not show if the person is the fc needs to be fixed (not sure if it's in the tracker).

I also think there need to be new waypoints.
    • g_waypointsprite_team_here_m: Makes a "here" waypoint over you.
    • g_waypointsprite_team_here_t: Makes a "here" waypoint over the player pointed at.
    • g_waypointsprite_team_danger_t: Makes a "danger" waypoint over the player pointed at.

No. If these players are enemies, you'll get a nice tracking system of them through walls for the time the waypoint is active. If everyone uses these, you'll soon know the enemy positions all the time.

Waypoint durations for these could be set to small spans. Or, they could be visible only if you are within x units of them.

  • i'm working on a 3d radar for maps that uses progs/laserdot.spr. maybe tomorrow i can post what i have under dev along with a precompiled progs.dat file and we Can start adapting it to have different types of blips. however, here.sp2 and helpme.sp2 dont work well with it atm.

  • What I meant was, if someone had the "FLAG CARRIER" sprite above them, then if they were to attach a "HELP ME" sprite, the "FLAG CARRIER" sprite would override the "HELP ME" sprite, which is bad because then teammates can't determine if the FC needs help or not.

  • lmfao sorry but a good team knows the flag carrier always needs help and to protect him from all directions, sheild him from being hit at their own cost while leaving other teammates at rally points, 2 ready for next capture, and at least 3 at homebase for guard duty. i dont know who you've been teaming with, but you need to understand the FC doesn't need helpme.sp2 as he needs help 24/7 regardless.

Perhaps. but sprite's are not for well working, experienced teams. its, mainly, to help with casual play for all skill levels. I see it as a good thing to make the FC sprite and help messages more visible. even if i doubt it will start a revolution, it cant hurt.

  • Well, then, you of all people should know that people don't always rush to the assistance of the FC. And not fixing a bug because "people should assume anyway" seems weird to me.

i would like to know as well, it is very annoying when i cant shoot the person in front of me because the waypoint for the flag carrier across the map is so big i cant see my target.

Ahhh now i understand! You use that high fov (130? or more?) the targets are small and waypoints' font is now bigger! I bet it's annoying as hell!

I've just find out this cvar g_waypointsprite_scale, I think I'll use 0.7 instead of 1, waypoints' font is now a bit too big.

  • cl_hidewaypoints 0 works !

The g_waypointsprite_scale was nice untill the fonts got bigger like you said . Yes i use fov 130 .and the waypointscale of 0.3 .

    thanks buogo

  • As an update, FruitieX and I implemented a feature into 2.5.2 which makes waypoints which are close to the crosshair fade out slightly (to 0.25 alpha, iirc). This makes it so that you can see your target even if the waypoint is in that direction.... My idea :)
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

I haven't noticed waypoints in the bad kind of way anytime recently so it must be working.
