Campaign Level 12 in SVN

  • Level 12 which is on Strength with almost all weapons is too hard to complete. The use of the fireball just means that the bots spam fireballs everywhere. I have tried several times but am unable to complete it.

    Has anyone else play tested through the campaign recently?

  • Hmm, well the fireball isn't balanced yet and is still in development. I should point out that the fireball gun will not be in 2.5.2, so for now this isn't a problem. Who knows for 2.5.3 though, as this is where the fireball gets added (Assuming we get new sounds for it).

    -- Also, I have play tested the campaign a lot and noticed some pretty big problems with it, including incorrect descriptions of the levels. I'm going to re-do these today, so.
    Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

    Did you mean 2.5.5? Because 2.5.3 has disappeared from the roadmap, not sure why.

    Hah, right, sorry. Morfar just changed that yesterday.. still getting used to it.. But yes, 2.5.5.

    Ah, thanks for clarifying that for me. I guess the next release is going to be a big one.

    Yes, the fireball is quite strong now and like they said it is in development. And someone put it in the 2nd place of the bots weapons priority list, so that's why the use it all the time :)

    So we will see how this weapon gets stabilized, after that probably I will remove (or add) some bots to that level ;)

  • Another one:
    Level 28, the time required to win is 3.6 seconds. Shouldn't this be 36 seconds? The value just needs changing from 360 to 3600.

    Just experienced this joy. I decided today it was about time I completed the campaign, but about 2 hours of trying to beat the bots on strength as they spam fireballs/mines was just impossible. Very unhappy now. :( The previous maps were fun, though!

    If you're on latest SVN, then this should not happen..... If you're on 2.5.2, then this should not happen...... If you're somewhere in between, update nao? :X

  • Yeah, you can beat it. I was going to give up, but after a while I experimented with using other weapons besides the fireball to counter-attack, and eventually succeeded - in other words, DON'T fight fire with fire.

    I used the awesome new guided aiming on the rocket launcher to lay utter destruction on approaching enemies (as fireballs are very limited in accuracy whereas a rocket can now be fired with pinpoint precision at medium-long ranges), using the walkway above the large armour pickup and near the bottom of the elevator as a relatively easy place to defend from.

    Even then, it took a long time, but it is possible. But devs, please tone down that mad fireball gun....


    I did get stuck on that stupid rocket-jumping race though (get around the track in 36 seconds - apparently there's a hidden skill inside rocket-jumping, which was supposed to be a hidden skill in itself, seemingly).

  • This is definitely still an issue in 2.5.2. I just downloaded this game today. The difficulty for lvl 12 is still grossly disproportionate to the previous levels and pretty much impossible. As soon as I spawn I'm getting shot with fireballs and the bots seem to be able to shoot faster than me (although that's probably just the DOT now that I think about it).

    Still, way too difficult.
