Developer discussion of experimental fixes, changes, and improvements.

  • I started composing/producing some D'n'B like track and I think it might play good in Nexuiz.

Newest version is always on top:

    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 13 D'n'B redirect | ogg | 10:12 | 4.7 mb
    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 11 | mp3 | 9:41 | 12.0 mb
    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 08 | ogg | 8:05 | 5.5 mb
    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 05 | ogg | 4:10 | 2.9 mb
    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 03 | ogg | 2:40 | 1.8 mb
    [DOWNLOAD] - Draft SWA | v. 01 | ogg | 2:13 | 1.0 mb

It is so early stage that it has no real name. Just a codename "Draft SWA". Let me know if you think this could fit into Nexuiz.

I will be uploading next versions of this track, if you have some suggestions what would sound better of something - go on.

  • Sounds a bit too monotonic I think. The melody you sometimes play is nice though... so there is some room for improvement.

  • Not really to my taste, but I agree that the melodic elements are the best part.

Lots of new things in this version and it has grown a bit. I hope the monotony is at least partially broken. Maybe it is a result of a long chunk of aggresive sound without an oposing chunk of sound that is rather quiet and makes space for further blast

It's putting on weight :) Is avarage match something like 5 to 15 minutes long? Maybe this could play without looping if someone thinks it might suite his/her map.

This version features an ending :) It should not be much longer than that. Due to strange uploading problems this version is in mp3, beacuse ogg file didn't make it through somehow :P

  • Thanks for listening :)

Actually theese drums are all synth. The free VST plugin that generates the sounds is called Drumatic 3.
So I will be working to make drums sound better and mix it more Drum'n'Bassish - I am gonna be searching your link, Kay - thanks :)

Good to see that someone is interested :)

  • One minor thing I don't like in this otherwise flawless track is what sounds like vocals starting at about 1:18 and played other times later as well. Other than that though, excellent work.

This one is a fast update. I'am having some minor software and internet trouble and I'am actally leaving behind software used to produce this, cos I'am migrating to OpenSource. So after finishing this track my production cycle will turn inside out :D
I was trying to make this piece of music sound a bit more like Drum & Bass.

This is the actual latest version of the track. I'am going to load up some havy (JAMin) tools to do the final mixing when I'am done with all composition. I don't want to take part in the Loudness War either ;)

    @ Kay:
I registered in the drumandbass.be site, but somehow I was unable to download anything. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. I dindn't remake all drumtrack to samples yet, but I'am not sure if it's a good idea, cos' I think the song gained some unique fell with this synthetic drum sound it has right now. I'am not sure if I want to break all this and re-make half of the track. I was many, many hours to create this.

    @ Lee_Stricklin:
Do you mean you don't like the "aah" and "ohh" vocal samples? Well, there are many wierd sounds in this track... and I think It's impossible to get anyone satisfied with this track in 100%. And I don't think it's my point. As an artist I need to have my own way to do things, so please don't take it personally, but I'am not going to remove theese
On the other side, I really appreciate your feedback! Thank you! :)

I thank you all guys :)
I hope this song will soon be ready to "spread it wordlwide"

  • Hmm, not really feeling this 1 m8, you really need to drop those drumkits you have used. If your aiming at making a drum&bass track you need to chop some breaks up a layer them with some deep punchy kicks and snares. Also all the other sounds you have used sound like basic presets, if your going to use presets, play with the oscillators try combinations of different waves to create new and more interesting sounds ;) The best way is to start from scratch and make your own synths from single sine wave starting points or granular synthesis. Keep it up! I always enjoy listening to new music for Nexuiz. Check out my music see if it helps :) http://soundcloud.com

  • SC0RP:
Well this is rather something experimental, I don't like to take easy ways in music :)
I'am not using here unmodified presets. Most of these are set up from scratch by me. Lost of distorion, reverb and other stuff makes it sound as it does.
The drum sounds replacment is kind of tricky, cos there are 3 instruments that synthesize several drum sounds each. So replacing this with samples by hand means A LOT of very boring work :|
I'am not into transforming it completly just to make it fit the Drum & Bass genre better. Let's say it's some light kind of. It is as it is, well... things grow an you can't sometimes undo it cos it's too big. If someone likes this track - use freely, just give me a credit. If not - i wont cry  and come up with some new stuff :)
I'am playing around with LMMS recently, it seems like a powerful open piece of code! More music will come!

    Kay:
Yay, I'am checking it out :) I just finished listening "Scanning". Strange that none of your music got into Nexuiz already!
