  • I've been working on a new song. This is my first song I've made for Nexuiz in LMMS, so it might sound a little different. Let me know what you think. I'm still game for revising it if anyone has any recommendations

  • it sounds really good, IMHO you should change a bit drum loop because is too repetitive, and I would make bass a bit louder so sounds seems more more "surrounding". I like the "drum pause" at the center of the song but, if I were you, I'd add some keyboard riff underneath, like choir or something. Compliments! :D

P.S What type of OS do you have? Because on every pc with every version of UBUNTU I tried, lmms make me conflict with Jackd(it didn't allow me to use midi keyboard and crashed). In your pc all goes well?

Thanks for the advice. I'll implement those ideas.
    I have Ubuntu 9.04. I don't use Jack or a MIDI keyboard (I don't really like Jack :P).

  • yeah, with a good computer and with only one track playing without external instrument is possible to avoid jackd use. Thx

  • Hmm I am currently also encountering very confusing problems with LMMS and Jack... :o/ maybe I'll use a metronom and do all the stuff I'd do with midi via analog recordings under Ardour instead. Ardour and Jack seem to work almost nicely together on UbuntuStudio Karmic.
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • the concept is great, but i have a few notes:

i think everything is too repetitive :)

at 1:13 this background-thing stops to abrupt.

you never change this high part of the drums (exept one time :) ), even when it's played quite short (around 1:50), i would vary it a bit, especially at around 1:50.

this.... e-guitar? which starts at 0:23... i think it could be used for variations. it shouldn't be just in the background, but you could make... more things with it. maybe add a bass-guitar and everything is perfect ;)

  • Hi there.

Like people have said, it's quite repeatative, If you change the hi-hat pattern, throw in an acoustic ride on the 1st and 3rd, and move all the chromatic instruments up by a 5th, or down/up by a 3rd, you can make yourself a quick and easy chorus.

The hats need lowering, and there is digital clipping. I recomend you lower the master level and run it through JAMin to master it.

Perhaps you could add a second lead part to accompany the initial lead part. Since the current lead synth plays every other bar, on the bar where it isn't playing you could have a second lead, have this lead accompanying the first one around half way through.

Apologies if any of this patronising, just trying to be helpful.

  • I really like this song but, where is the bass? :D
    It doesn't have enough power!

I made a little remix of it:
